Chapter 1
It is an early Sunday morning, too early for me but I had to escape from all the madness. I need an escape for a few days, just to clear out my head. I am sitting in the earliest train, that left to somewhere. Somewhere, I didn't know. I told my parents I was taking the train to Amsterdam to my cousins but I wasn't planning on going. I didn't want to see anyone, especially not my cousins.
Now sitting in this train, it makes me realize how amazing my life has been. But the past year my life has sucked. I don't believe that anything can cure what happened. That bastard that did this to me is just... Something snaps me out of the devastating thought. The thought that just pushed me into more misery.
Three figures at the next station who caught my attention. There are two tall boys and a girl. The boy with the brown hair is holding her hand and she is leaning into his shoulder... I always hoped for a relationship like that. As soon as the train stops, they step in, they look awfully familiar. I get back to listening to my favourite band Bastille until someone says my name. I look up, and I was right, the faces I had just seen were people I know.

I look up, surprised, to see the three best friends I had ever had, Artie, Jock and Jessie. I am surprised to see that Jock and Jessie were finally together after chasing each other for 10 years. We were all friends since the beginning of our school lives. We used to play in the sandbox and tell each other our secrets. I hadn't seen them in a year and suddenly they are standing right in front of me. My mouth is agape, I have never thought that the people I cared about most are here.
"Adelaine, we finally found you." Jock sees my confused face. They know why I didn't talk to them for a year. "Sorry we haven't been there for you, we know it's been a harsh year." Artie mumbles. He was always the one that knew what to say. I, unfortunately, didn't. As soon as the tears spring into my eyes, I run off to the bathroom. I start sobbing, seeing them just makes me think more of everything that is going on.
The thought's come back, and the devil on my shoulder is harassing me. He disappears as soon as a soft knock on the door is heard. "Laine, are you okay? I know it's been a hard time but we are here for you now and we are not leaving you." Jessie's sweet voice makes me open the door. I run into her arms and give her the biggest hug and start sobbing onto her timid shoulder. I don't care if someone on this moving vehicle hears me, I just need a shoulder to cry on.

Jessie holds me until my eyes can't make any more tears. "Jess.. I'm just so happy you guys are here. I need a distraction..." I try to say through the remaining tears on my cheeks. "And we planned that distraction. That's why it took us so long to find you. One because we have been planning and another because you are so hard to find if you keep running away." Her humoristic comment makes me laugh. "That is what I want to hear," She smiles. She grabs my hand and we walk back to the boys.
