As the alarm went off you only thought two things.
1.) Is a coconut has hair and milk why isn't it a mammal?
2.) Why does god hate you?
You pushed yourself out of bed and towards the closet where you threw on a F/C shirt with a pair of dark jeans. You walked out and headed downstairs where Sanders and Emily sat talking over a cup of coffee.
It's been about a week since you saved her and brought her here. Good news is, she was saved. Bad news was that you now had the CCU and the SHCU after you now that you are also a fugitive. Well, more fugitive than before.
Is that even a thing?
Sanders had taken a liking to her and for a while you kept your identity hidden before finally giving in. That and Matt pretty much gave it away. She didn't cause any problems thankfully and actually helped around the house to "earn her keep" as she put it.
"Morning Y/N. Did you sleep well?" She greeted you with a wide smile.
You gave a so so signal and took a seat next to her. Sanders slid a cup of coffee your way.
"You look dead kid. Long night?" He asked.
You just groaned. Bug Guy came back and relased some prisoners during his jail break. You had to not only fight him but round up the others as well. It took all night but when you finally got the last one you rested for a good two hours.
"Figured. You going to school or am I calling in sick?"
You and Sanders had a deal. If you called in sick you could rest the entire day but you couldn't fight crime. If you went to school you can still go do your activities but at the cost of being drained both physically and emotionally.
"No. I'll just go." You mumbled.
Emily looked at you with a sudden interest.
"What's school like?" She suddenly asked.
You looked at her confused and shocked.
"You didn't go to school?" You question.
She shook her head.
"Honestly I don't remember a whole lot before I broke free from the CCU. Maybe I did but I don't remember."
You gave her a look of sympathy. After you brought her home you learned that she had slight amnesia. She could only remember waking up in the CCU's custody. Nothing you or Sanders did jogged her memory.
"Well, school is what you make it. If you think it sucks, it'll suck. If you think it's cool then it'll be cool. I just don't like it cause it gets in the way of my Ghost business and it's slowly killing me." You tried to explain.
Sanders looked at his watch and chuckled.
"You best finish that cup and go wash up. You have an hour until school starts." He told you.
It took you 30 minutes to walk there but you liked to be a bit early to get help on your homework. As you drank your coffee Emily was thinking to herself.
"Hey so I had an idea." She suddenly stated.
You looked at her and decided to see what was up.
"What's that?"
Then she said something that made your stomach turn.
"I can be your partner!"
Sudden flashbacks from a painful past crowded your mind. She was smiling but you were trying to stop yourself from throwing up.
"W-what?"
She grabbed your hand with hers.
"I can be your partner! We can fight crime together and do hero stuff! We'll be like a crime fighting duo or something! It'll be cool!" She suggested.
You pulled your hand away and shook your head furiously.
"Partners? Hell no! I don't work with anyone." You suddenly burst.
She was taken back by your tone just as was Sanders.
"But, you just said that you were tired. Maybe having a partner could help with that." She purposed.
You grabbed your bag and shook your head.
"Not happening. What would give you such a stupid idea?!" You asked demanding answers.
"I did."
You turned to Sanders who was leaning against the wall. Now you were pissed.
"You gave her that idea? Why the hell would you do that for?! You know I don't work with partners!"
Sanders shook his head.
"I figured you would have wanted the help. She was just offering. You don't need to be so rude!" He lectured.
You gritted your teeth.
"The one partner I had will be the only one. I lost them and I'm not losing another." You stated before storming out.
Emily was now concerned. She hasn't known you for long but even she knew this wasn't like you. Sanders sighed and rubbed his head.
"What was he talking about? He lost someone?" Emily asked.
Sanders nodded. He remembers it all. From the moment you became Ghost to now. He was there for everything. Including that fateful day.
"Yeah. The kid lost someone very close to him. Someone who touched his life the way no one else had."
Emily looked at him now curious.
"Who? What happened?"
Sanders sat down and looked at the half empty mug of coffee.
"It's a long story."

Meanwhile In A Secret Lair!
Taurus sat on a chair at the large table while Virgo messed around with a stray piece of paper. They were interuppted by the large door opening and a large man walking through.
"Hey Leo." Taurus greeted.
The man took a seat at the head of the table before eyeing the two. He took a deep breath then sighed.
"So, no word on the girl?" He asked.
Virgo shook her head while Taurus shrugged.
"She's officially MIA. Not a damn clue on her whereabouts." He said.
Leo nodded as he pulled out a remote. The screen turned on and the two teens looked at it. It was of their encounter with Ghost.
"Oh yeah! We met Ghost! That was so cool." Taurus recalled fanboying out.
"Yes. You also met the target." Leo pointed out.
The video zoomed in to show the girl that was with him. Virgo looked to her brother worried.
"She was the target?" He asked in disbelief.
Leo stood up and walked over to Taurus before placing a hand on his shoulder and leaning in.
"Find her, or else." He threatened.
With that, Leo left the two teens alone.
