A Job Offer

A week had passed since you had started running tests at the campus. Things had been going pretty well for you but it was time to head back to your home. You had given Locke permission to call on you if a situation had ever gotten dire as it did with the A Class before heading out to the hanger. You found Team Alpha waiting for you there.

"So, you're heading back." Jason called out as you walked towards them.

"My city needs me. I would love to stay and mess around some more but I have obligations. Maybe during summer?" You suggested.

Jason just nodded before the other three walked up to the two of you. Nathaniel and you had gotten a bit closer and he was slightly bummed to see you go but he knew it wasn't the last time he would see you. Lacy even gained a liking to you, maybe a bit more on the romantic side, and was also sad to say goodbye. Yuri could care less to be frank. The two of you hardly talked and she was a bit bitter about you breaking her record.

"I'll see you guys around." You saluted before boarding the jet.

You took your seat and sighed as it began to take off. The flight would take about 3 hours so you figured some shut eye would do you some good. You slowly closed your eyes and began to drift to sleep before your phone began ringing. You answered it without looking at the caller ID.

"Hello?" You answered annoyed.

"Good to hear from you Ghost."

You immediately sat up at the voice. You knew that voice very well.

"Daniel. Surprising to hear from you after all this time."

Daniel chuckled on the other line. He was Daniel Holloway. Yeah, Montoya's older brother. A very high ranking member in the Family. So why was one of the most powerful gangsters in the world calling you? Well, he was an informant of shorts. He would feed you info when you needed it and in exchange you helped him out. In truth he wasn't a bad guy but he was far from good. He still wanted to run the Family one day but he also wanted to do things in a more legal manner. That being said, he was calling for a very specific reason. He was the one who told you about the mayor's involvement with the Family. That meant you owed him a favor.

"I have a job." He bluntly stated.

"Figured." You rolled your eyes.

"The Family is throwing a party, a very high end one. It goes without saying that there will be some very powerful, very rich people there. We have security packed in like a bunch of sardines in a can but I need you to protect a very special guest. The new head of the Family."

You frowned at this. You had no idea what he meant by the new head. Someone else besides LeFay was in charge now? That meant that he either died or went into hiding over the last week you were away. This wasn't good news.

"What happened to LeFay?" You asked.

"Well you know that sword for hire, Bloody Mask? He got to him. Blood everywhere. It was a mess." Daniel explained without a trace of anger in his voice.

That man was his father but he seemed more bored than upset. Like someone was telling him the same story over again.

"So you need to play babysitter to make sure that bastard doesn't get to the new boss." Daniel finished.

You knew you couldn't really turn him down. You both had a deal and you had to honor it just like he did.

"Fine. Who's the new boss?" You asked.

The line was silent before you heard him take a deep breath.

"Montoya."
