Cassandra's POV

"How did you do it?" I ask my mother, coldly.

It had been a few hours since my interrogation. I was thrown back in my cell rather harshly as I tumbled to the cold solid floor. My mother didn't say a word through those hours and I had finally had enough.

"How did I do what?" she countered.

"How did you fake your death? Better yet, why did you? Why would you do this to me?"

She looks to the side, facing away from me. Her blood stained skin tight as she bent her neck. She sighed and looked down with her sad blue eyes and matted brown hair that used to be red.

"Did you meet the Sicilian man?" she said, emotionless as she looked back at me. I nod my head.

"He was an old friend of mine from college. I met up with him around the time I found out I was having you. I noticed that he was acting strange the whole time. So, I followed him after we were done talking into an alley. He was talking to this man that looked familiar. He was tall, skinny, and dressed in a black hoodie and jeans. His grey hair and pale skin gave him away. It was your father. After a while of standing there, they went their separate ways and I decided to follow Your dad.

He ran to a car parked on the side of a near by road and hopped in the passenger seat. Then, the car drove off. I, again, followed the car. After a few miles, the car stopped in front of a bar. This one actually. Your father went inside and I did as well, after him of course. I stayed out of sight as I watched him walk up to the back table where a group of men sat. At the front of the table, was our friend, the Sicilian. Your father stared yelling at the men, saying something about leaving someone alone. Little did I know that those men were targeting me because they wanted to get to Jethro.

Your father had recently finished a case involving them. He had busted one of their drug dealings or something like that. All you need to know is that they were mad and were out for blood. I went home after and made sure I got there before your father did. When he got home, I asked him about everything that had happened. Understandably, he was furious that I had followed him but he explained everything to me.

I was petrified at this point. A gang run by a man that I thought was my friend was out for me and your father was responsible. Jethro told me that he was going to take care of it but I couldn't risk it. That night, while he was sleeping, I packed up my things and stayed at a hotel just outside the city.

About 16 years later, on your birthday, they found me at the house before you got home from school. They kidnapped me and forced me into their car. While this was going on, a few other men dragged a dead body out from the trunk of the car and placed it in the house. Then, they drove off with me in the car.

When you called the police, they intercepted the call. You were talking to that gang. They're the ones who responded and ever since, I've been here."

After she finished, it was silent for a while. I knew something wasn't right that day but I had no clue it would be anything like this.

"So, that's why you wanted me to stay away from him? Out of fear that they would hurt you?" I say, quietly.

"Yes and no. I wanted to stay with Jethro, I really did, but I didn't want to risk your life. You were already too important to me and I didn't want to lose you."

"Why didn't you tell dad about me? He deserved to know that he had a daughter."

"You and I both know how your father is. If he knew, he would have hunted us down. It hurt so much to do that to him but I didn't want that gang to know about you. If I stayed and had you, they could have found out that Jethro had a child and they would have shifted their focus on you."

She pauses for a second, thinking carefully.

"You didn't tell them that I am your mother, did you?"

"Of course not. I only told them yours and Jane's names. That is all"

Just then, Jane moves her head in my mother's lap. She opens her eyes and looks up at my mom and slowly sits up.

"How long was I out for?" she rasps out, her voice no longer as sweet as it used to be.

"I don't know but long enough to miss a newcomer," my mother says as she looks back at me.

Jane slowly turns around, her joints cracking and popping as she does. Her gaze falls onto me and she immediately stops in her tracks.

"Cassandra!" she says, surprised. "You shouldn't be here."

"Neither should you, Jane. But look where we are now. Sitting here like a bunch of jackasses."

"I'm serious, Cassandra. You need to get out of here now."

"I came here looking for you and I'm not leaving until everyone in this stupid ass gang is dead."

"I told you before that if I went missing to not look for me."

"I am your commander, lieutenant. It's my job to watch over you. I don't give one fucking shit whether or not you told me not to look for you."

"Why? You said you trusted me."

"I don't take orders from you, lieutenant. I'm here whether you like it or not so drop the attitude and be thankful that I'm going to get us out of this shit hole."

"And how do you plan on doing that?"

"When you disappeared, NCIS showed up on the Kennedy and started asking questions about you. So, they opened a case, trying to look for you." I choose my words carefully, skipping the part about Brad for now. "And now I'm missing, too. Do you really think they're not going to do anything about this? They're coming for us. All we have to do is wait."

Jane looks at me in defeat. She knew that I was right. Gibbs and Tony are coming for us, all they had to do was figure out a way to get us all out in one piece.
