As I'm standing at the register i feel my phone vibrate in my pocket. It's probably Tyler🙄. He normally text me around the time that my shift is almost over. I wonder what he possibly wants. He already left a scratch under my eye what's next a busted lip? I just don't know how much more i can take. It's like when I'm around him i can't find the courage to leave but when I'm by myself all the words i want to say seem so easy to say if i were in front of him. I finish ringing the last 3 customers up and i am off for the afternoon. I walk up to my boss's office to sign out and then leave. I don't want to look at my phone until i get in the house.

I finally get home and realize i have a shit ton of homework to do. Refusing to look at my phone, i change into a pair of gray sweatpants and a black T-shirt. I brace myself to look at my phone because i can't avoid it forever. I pick up my phone and... OMG ITS JAYY🤩!
Jay: "wassup ma"
Me: "Heyy☺️"
My heart began to beat faster. I can't believe she texted me. How did she get my number? I started to realize that she put her number in my phone when she asked to hold it at the end of class earlier.
*Ding*
My phone reads iMessage from Jay😍
Jay: "what you doing ma?"
Me: "just got home from work how about you?
Jay: "chillin for real... Heyy ma can i ask you a question?"
Me: "of course"
Jay: "are you going to that homecoming after party on Saturday?"
Me: "ohh most definitely 🤪"
Jay: "ard bet well I'll see you in school tomorrow cutie 😉"
I find myself smiling hard as fuck. Every time Jay talks to me she is charming and respectful. I haven't gotten respect from Tyler in a long time.

Tyler: "I'm on my way over"
Me: "ok"
I hurry up and delete the messages between me and Jay. If Tyler sees them he would kill me. I think today is going to be the day i break up with him. I've been putting up with this for too long. It's time i say something.
