Arcadia
She counted the dots in the ceiling. The popcorn things. 300,00 so far. It was driving her crazy. There was a heavy feeling in her chest. A burden far too heavy for a 18 year old.
Arcadia ran her hands down the wall.
"From untruth, lead me to the truth."
"From darkness, lead me to the light."
"From death, lead me to immortality." She said out loud, in a clear voice. She took a deep breath and softly banged her head on the wall. She did it again, except harder.
Arcadia bashed her head against the wall, over and over again till she could only see blood, and black stars. Smiling, she slowly let go of herself and fell on the floor. Nothing hurt. In fact, it felt good.
"From untruth, lead me........ to the-the truth"
"From... darkness, le-lead me to the light"
"From death, lead m-me to..."
She closed her eyes, her words fading out. Arcadia surrendered to the blissful shadows and let go.
