They found Lance a little under an hour later. He was back in his human form by that point, the temporary potion wearing off.
Keith was the one to find him and the first thing he noticed was that Lance seemed slightly older by one or two years but Lance was asleep so he couldn't ask where had been or what had been doing. Maybe the spell Haggar put on him was finally wearing off?
The others were relieved that Lance was alright and went back to what they were doing as Keith put the now six-year-old to bed.
When Lance did eventually wake up he was disappointed to find that it was not with the squishy mice had fallen asleep with but rather alone. "This sucks." Was the first thing that came into his head.
He yawned and slipped out the side of the bed, not liking the cold floor and jumping back into the quilts for a few minutes until he adjusted to the temperature change. "Dad?" He called out loudly, swinging his legs back and forth off the end of the bed. "Dad?" He tried again, louder this time until the door opened.
"Hey, Lance, what's wro- what the quiznack you look so much older!" Shiro walked over the grinning boy and lifted him up despite Lance saying that he could walk fine on his own. "Ya! I'ma big boy now! Oh, can we go get something to eat? I'm hungry!"
Shiro, deciding that this wasn't the weirdest thing that's happened, went along with the now six-year-old Lance and went to the kitchen to find Hunk and the rest of his team already at the table. "Good morning Shiro, I trust you slept well?" Allura was the first to notice him and he gave a halfhearted shrug, setting Lance down on his lap and sitting.
"No!" Lance crossed his arms and wiggled his way out of Shiro's grip. "I want my own chair!" He went over to the one next to Keith and climbed onto it before sitting down, his unfortunate hight meaning that he couldn't see the top of the table at all.
Keith sniggered and grabbed some pillows to put under Lance's butt so he was raised a little higher. "...is no one going to address the fact that Lance is clearly older than he was the last time I saw him?" Pidge said just as Hunk came in with the food, setting one down for Lance after he complained about not wanting to share.
"I think we've all just excepted the fact that weird thing happens around here for no reason," Corran said with a grin, tucking into the food as soon as had finished his sentence.
Lance picked up a fork and shoved a spoonful of the stuff into his mouth, immediately spitting it back out again and pushing the plate as far away from him as he could. "What's wrong Lance?" Keith asked with a small laugh. There was something about the unneeded defiance of children that amused him.
"I don't like it, I want cookies!" Hunk smiled and shook his head, despite being older now, Lance still hadn't changed his attitude one bit.
"You can't just have cookies, Lance." Shiro began in a dad-like voice. "But I want it!" Lance cried out, he would have stomped his feet but his toes couldn't even touch the floor from this height. "If you eat half of your food, then I'll let you have some cookies ok?" Shiro tried to compromise and Lance even seemed to consider it for a second.
"No! That's too much. I want cookies now!" Shiro sighed at Lance's defiance and, because he was still tired, let Lance just have cookies.
As soon as breakfast was over Lance was running around and causing havoc everywhere he went, a newfound boundless energy as he bugged everyone all day.
He was in the middle of making a mess in the living room, (how he got a chair on the couch was beyond anyone's knowledge) when Keith walked in, jaw-dropping at the mess. "Lance! I left you alone for five minutes. How did you make such a mess?" Lance smiled cheekily and gave a guilty smile, the mischief in his eyes not missed by Keith. "Sorry, I got bored."
Honestly, he looked adorable, kicking his feet back and forth on the floor and Keith couldn't stay mad at him for long. "That's okay, let's go get you ready for bed now."
And he was gone. Keith could've sworn he kept his eyes on the little ball of energy the whole time and yet the space the little troublemaker was previously in was empty, and Keith had no idea where he was. "Oh quiznack."
Keith looked around with searching eyes, calling out to the hiding child. "Come on Lance, you need to go to bed so that you can enjoy tomorrow." There was no response and he briefly considered if perhaps Lance left the room.
At that thought Keith sighed, it would take so long to find him if he was in a different room.
"LANCE." He called out as loudly as he could, hoping that he would hear wherever he was, he couldn't have gone too far anyway. "I'VE GOT COOKIES!"
He hoped that Lance was still obsessed with cookies, or at least loved them enough to be fooled by Keith's lie.
There was the pitter patter of feet and suddenly there was Lance, standing next to Keith with stars in his eyes. "You have cookies?" Keith couldn't contain a laugh as he scooped Lance up, making sure he couldn't run away this time. "Nope. You, mister, are going to bed."
Lance's eyes widened and he squirmed around in a desperate attempt to be set free. "Noooo, I don't wanna go to bed." But he had to, so Keith brought him to his room and tucked him in, only for Lance to kick and whine the whole way.
"Lance..." Keith began sternly, he was really starting to wish he wasn't the one putting Lance to bed, he could be such a menace at times. "I wanna say goodnight to dad." Keith sighed put decided that was a request he could accept, if it got Lance to stop fussing, he'd do it.
"Okay, let's go find him then." Lance jumped out of bed the moment those words left Keith's mouth, holding his hand as they walked down the corridor, Lance more skipping than walking.
