CHAPTER TWO
SWEATER WEATHER

IT HAS BEEN 5 WEEKS. Calpurnia Finn had travelled from New York, to Texas, to Arizona and to New Jersey. Now, they're to leave New Jersey and to the famous city of L.A.

Finn woke up to 3 texts from Millie. Lately, she had always been sort of... clingy. Texting him if he ate, how he has been doing, when is he going to sleep. He hated to admit it, but it was irritating him slightly.

Finn was having the time of his life, not wanting to take any second for granted. He was having so much fun that he was blinded to the lonely girl who just wanted his attention, who wanted to talk to him again.

Finn groaned, before rubbing his eyes and checking his phone.

mORNING LOVVVEEEEEE

Where are you off to next?

Text me when you land. Call later <3 love you.

Finn read her texts, he opened it and types in:

Morning Peaches. I'm busy. Airport stuff. Later.

Finn closed his phone, and started his morning routine.

. . .

Calpurnia has flew away from New York, to the hot summery California. Finn's face was already ripe red and sweaty when he stepped out of the plane.

Ayla walked beside him, sweating as well, but not as much as he did.

"So Finn, what's up?"

Finn sighed. "I'm beat." He wiped the sweat off his forehead with the back of his hand.

"How's Millie?" Ayla brought up. Finn sighed yet again.

"Okay, I guess." Finn shrugged. Ayla immediately pinpointed that something was wrong.

"You know you can't lie to me, Finnie." Ayla mutters. "Now what is it?" She asks.

Finn looks down. "She's being kind of annoying lately." Finn finally confesses.

"What? Why?" Ayla shot back, disbelief laced in her tone.

"Clingy. She's always texting me! Doesn't she know what space is? Look, I love her, but I'm having the time of my life. I... I just want to be left alone, that's all." Finn rolled his eyes. Ayla was taken aback by his words.

"Are you serious?" She stopped in her tracks.

Finn continues to move ahead.

"Hey! I was talking to you!" Ayla jogged in front of him, catching up with his long strides. "How dare you say that! The poor girl probably just misses you. Are you actually talking to her, though?" She asked, hoping she was correct.

Finn shook his head. "I tell her I'm busy. But hey, I'm not lying."

"Finn, are you listening to yourself? Being ignored is just the worst thing for a girl- and for people in general."

Finn rolled his eyes. "Fine, I'll talk to her, whatever."

"Wolfhard, she's your girlfriend! Maybe she just wants to talk to you! And here you are doing the exact opposite. That could really hurt her if you continue."

Finn's eyes softened at her last sentence. He suddenly felt guilty. He was enlightened at the fact that Millie would feel so abandoned and lonely- he never wanted that. Wow, I'm a fuckin' idiot, he thinks to himself.

"You're right. I'm sorry." He looked down, his hair falling over his eyes. Suddenly, he felt a hand on his shoulder.

"Of course I'm right. Also, don't say sorry to me. You should say sorry to Millie." Ayla grinned.

Finn nodded, "I don't know what I'd do without you. You're like my mom or something."

"You wouldn't last a day without me." Ayla remarks, and the two burst into an explosion of giggles.

Finn smiled at the cheering crowd, and Calpurnia was about to end, but the audience didn't want them to finish up just yet. Ayla checked the time and saw they had 5 more minutes.

"Okay, folks. One last song."

The crowd screamed out of joy and howled.

Finn walked to Malcom at the back and whispered something to him. The drummer smiled, and nodded.

Finn was constantly thinking of Millie ever since he had that conversation with Ayla. This song reminded him of her in a way, he missed her, and as hot as it was in California, he still felt cold without her. Cheesy, but it was the truth.

"All I am, is a man. I want the world in my hands," Finn started singing onto the mic, as the crowd screamed even louder.

"I hate the beach, but I stand, in California with my toes in the sand. Use the sleeves of my sweater, let's have an adventure, head in the clouds but my gravity's centred." He continues, melting into his own feelings. He sounded so dedicated, every word he sang laced with emotion.

All because of one girl.

hello!! super #boring chapter but i hope you enjoyed it. the time skips are huge in this act. so it's not only a filler, it's a transition!!
