"All great change... begins at the dinner table." - Ronald Reagan.

Jack and I started walking over to the Dining Hall together, talking about our cabin mates.

"The guys I share with are total crack heads." Jack said.

"Umm, what do you mean?" I asked, confused. Did he mean that they actually smoked crack, or just that they were complete idiots?

"Well, the first thing that they said to me was, I quote 'Yum, fresh blood'!" Jack said with a half laugh.

“‘Cause that isn't at all weird." I said.

"What about you?" He asked.

"The girls I'm sharing with are absolutely amazing!" I smiled. "Even though camp has only just begun, I love it. We all get on really well together."

By this time we had reached the Dining Hall and were making our way up the aisle to get food.

"Um, did you want to maybe sit and eat with me?" Jack asked as we got plates. "You can say no."

"Oh, well, um sure. Thanks."

'Ok, get a grip Jas!' I thought as I made a fruit salad. 'It's just breakfast.'

We made our way over to the fridges that were against the wall and grabbed some juice, and sat down at one of the tables facing each other.

Breakfast was spent talking and flirting, until I noticed that it had suddenly gotten really quiet.

Startled, I looked around the hall and saw everyone looking at us.

"Well, this is awkward." I laughed quietly.

"Just ignore them." Jack told me. "They're just jealous that they don't get to have breakfast with a hot chick."

"On really." I felt a little self-conscious about being called a 'hot chick'. Seriously, I was just me. "So how do explain the girls?"

"On that's easy! They're jealous that they aren't you"

"And why is that?"

I was interested to see if he would turn into a typical guy, cocky and over-confident, saying that it was because I get to sit next to him or look at his stunning face.

His response shocked me into silence.

"Have you looked in the mirror today babe?"

Wow.

The only word that came into mind.

Either he was a really sweet guy, or he couldn't wait to get into my pants.

"You don't believe me do you?" Jack said.

"Um, no. Not really." I said.

Hey, at least I was being honest.

"I mean, you're a guy. How do I know that you aren't like other guys?" I asked him.

"Because" Jack said, leaning towards me across the table. "How many guys do you know that would actually stop and help a hot babe, you know, without trying anything?"

"You know, that is actually a fair point."

Without realising it, we had been leading towards each other.

I was as nervous as hell, I mean, I had just met this guy and now I was leaning towards him like he was the amazing boyfriend who had just taken me out for a romantic dinner.

It was shocking really; I shouldn't be having these feelings for him!

I ONLY JUST FREAKING MET HIM!!!

Yet here I was, a modern day Juliet and he was my Romeo, not knowing him for more than 24 hours, yet ready to face the ends of the earth with him.

Where did that come from?!?

'Ok Jas' I thought to myself. 'Calm down. You're a girl; he's an incredibly hot guy, willing to actually spend time with you... This is a totally reasonable reaction, right?'

After taking a deep breath I looked around the Dining Hall and noticed that there were still people looking at us.

"You'd think that these people would actually have lives," I laughed as I leant back a little bit.

"Obviously not." Jack responded, a smile forming on his face. "And you know what?"

"What?"

I was suddenly feeling VERY hot.

"If you were around me, I wouldn't want to have a life." he whispered as he lent his elbows on the table. "I would just stand around and look at you all day."

Ok Jas, you've only just met the guy, calm down. He's mega hot, and you're just you... He's probably just messing with you.

"Oh yeah?" I asked, raising one eyebrow. "And you know what I would do if I was you?"

"What would that be?" he asked me, a small smile forming.

I lent on the table so that our faces were only inches apart. I could hear his breathing falter for a second and his heart rate pick up.

I searched his face and looked at his lips, instantly wishing that I hadn't done that. Damn, why did his lips have to look so kissable?

SNAP OUT OF IT! I yelled to myself.

"I would get a new pick up line."

Once we had stopped laughing and the people had finally gone back to their own miserable lives I stared around the room, trying to think of something to say.

"So," I started awkwardly.

Fortunately I was saved from having to say anything else by a camp instructor standing up the front and clearing his throat.

"Alrighty everyone, listen up!" he yelled, making sure that he could be heard in the very back. "When you have finished eating I want you to all head back towards you own cabins. When you are there a leader will come and give you your camp timetable. If you have any problems with this come and see me or go to the office. Once you have your timetables you may go and do whatever, just stay inside the areas marked on your maps. You can go shopping, driving, whatever I don't really care, just as long as you don't go out of bounds. Those areas are marked on you maps, and while I agree that some rules are made to be broken, these ones are not! The woods here are very dangerous - only go there if you have permission and an instructor with you. So, I now want everyone to go to your cabins and we will be there shortly."

"Shall we?" Jack asked, holding out his elbow like the old fashioned gentleman I didn't think he was.

"We shall." I laughed as we left the Hall, feeling the eyes of everyone on my back.
