After Louis put Julian to bed that night, he stayed up late doing research about DNA testing during pregnancy, and he found out there were two ways to do it.
The first, and most invasive way, was taking a sample of the amniotic fluid, which contains cells from the baby, and it meant inserting a needle inside of Louis' belly, which sounded awful, and there were also risks, which could eventually cause a miscarriage or an early labor.
So as soon as Louis read that, he decided that wasn't going to be his route.
The second way do to the test was through what was called Noninvasive Prenatal Paternity Testing (NIPP), which meant a sample of blood would be taken from Louis, and from that, it was possible to get a sample of the baby's cells that were apparently just floating around Louis' blood. Then they were going to compare the baby's cells, with a sample of Harry's DNA, which would be obtained via cheek swab, and voilà, they would get their results.
So obviously that was the way to do it.
It was expensive, though, but Louis didn't care, he couldn't spend the rest of his pregnancy knowing that Harry was doubting his paternity.
So after making the decision, Louis searched for places in London that performed the test, he found one, and the next morning, after dropping Jules off at daycare, he called the lab he had found to get more details, and he ended up making an appointment.
When Louis' shift finally ended that Monday, he was exhausted, and even though he had the car with him, it took him ages to pick up Julian and go home, because it was almost Christmas and there were traffic jams everywhere.
As he approached the flat, Louis got nervous, because he knew Harry was going to be home, he had checked the arrivals in the airport website, and the plane Harry was flying had arrived in London Heathrow at 10 A.M.
They actually hadn't talked since the FaceTime call, although Harry had tried calling, but Louis hadn't picked up, there was nothing else he wanted to say over the phone.
When Louis opened the front door of the flat, he found it completely silent, and he knew Harry had to be sleeping, and he confirmed it when he peeked inside their bedroom, and he saw his boyfriend sound asleep inside the bed covers.
"Daddy!" Julian exclaimed, and ran inside the room.
"No, daddy's sleeping" Louis said in a hushed voice.
But Julian didn't listen and tried to climb on the bed, and although he couldn't do it, he moved the bed enough to wake up Harry and get him to open his eyes
"Daddy" Julian repeated.
"Hey, little man" Harry said groggily, and then yawned.
"Up?" Julian asked, because he was still trying to climb on the bed.
Harry smiled and helped Julian climb on the bed, and once he was there, he hugged him, and that was also when he looked up and his eyes met Louis'.
"Hey" Harry said.
"Hi" Louis answered "Sorry he woke you up".
"It's okay"' Harry shrugged it off.
"So uhm... we have an appointment tomorrow at 10 AM for the DNA testing" Louis announced.
"We don't have to do it" Harry said.
"We actually do, I won't have you doubting this for the rest of the pregnancy" Louis answered "So we're going tomorrow".
"Tomorrow's your birthday, and Christmas Eve" Harry reminded him, as if he had forgotten.
"I know, but the lab is open in the morning and I want to get it out of the way as soon as possible" Louis declared "And you're paying for it".
