Sydney stood next to Steve in the Byers' kitchen with her arms crossed, looking around at the children sitting at the table. There was an incident at the Hawkins lab so they had to stay inside and away from the demodogs as Dustin liked to call them. She glanced to the boy next to her every now and then seeing his eyes wandering to his ex girlfriend from time to time. She knew that she would never have a chance with him since he is still in love with Nancy.

She let out a sigh as she pushed herself off from the counter and walking to Max smiling down at her before looking over when they discussed on what's going on with Will, raising an eyebrow when Dustin brought out a book explaining how this unknown entity acted like the Mind Flayer from Dungeons and Dragons...but it wasn't real, it was just a kid's game.

"We need to get Will out of there, he's still in there," Joyce spoke up, her voice cracking a bit.

Sydney furrowed her brows although she listened and began to help put up paper and such in the shed, taping it down and holding it so Steve could staple it. She stepped back with him, looking up to him and gave him a small smile before heading back inside so they could start the plan.

When the first round failed, they tried again only this time using Morse code with the help of Hopper and walkie talkies. She sat next to Nancy, helping her write down the message which ended up being CLOSE GATE. Everything was confusing to the blonde, especially since a young girl walked in but everyone seemed to know her, even Max knew of her.

"You okay?" Sydney asked softly walking over to Steve after Nancy left with Jonathan and Mrs. Byers, Hopper leaving with the girl named Eleven.

Steve nodded in response walking inside raising an eyebrow when Dustin handed him the dead demogorgon wrapped up in a blanket. Sydney helped clean up only to stand up straight when Mike thought of a plan to go and burn the vines.

"Yeah, no, that's a no," Steve stated sighing when the kids began to argue with him. "We stay benched until the starter team does their job. Do you understand that?"

She looked at the group, putting her hands up when they looked at her, silently begging. "I'm with him, we need to stay here and stay safe, it's too dangerous to go out."

That was when the dreaded roar was heard and Sydney ran over, getting on her knees next to Max seeing the familiar hot rod. "Shit," She mumbled and frowned when her sister mentioned that he would kill them.

A frown tugged at her lips when Steve walked out to greet Billy, trying to keep the kids back from the window although it was too late as her brother walked in.

"Are you fucking Harrington now, slut?" Billy growled grabbing her arm and Sydney narrowed her eyes pushing him back and getting her arm free of his grasp.

She tried to pull him back from Lucas although she only fell to the floor, holding onto her stinging cheek where she had been struck. Sydney looked up feeling arms wrap around her shoulders to see Steve, thanking him when he helped her up and sighed softly, standing by the children making sure they were behind her in case Billy tried to hurt one of them again as he confronted the other boy.

"Billy!" Sydney screamed when he had Steve pinned down and was beating him to a pulp. She looked over seeing the sedative and picked it up sticking it into her brother's neck.

He turned around looking at the needle in his neck, slowly pulling it out. "What the hell did you do to me?" He mumbled, the drug already kicking in laughing when he was pushed backwards.

Sydney glanced to Max nodding as she picked up Steve's bat before rushing to the dark haired boy on the ground sighing as she lightly touched his face. "It's going to be okay Steve," She whispered glancing up when her sister held up Billy's keys. "No," She said standing up and thanking Mike for the band-aids.

"We need to do our part and help Will," Dustin stated getting a cloth of ice.

"No, no, we need to stay here," Sydney stated strictly although sighing when they didn't listen to her and went to start the car. "Fuck," She mumbled and helped Dustin with Steve sitting in the back as Max drove off to the home of the demogorgons.
