Sydney looked down at the train tracks in front of her while her small gloved hands reached into the rusty bucket, grabbing a couple pieces of raw meat and throwing it on the ground. The boys have only told her that they were hunting a monster so she felt a little left out without knowing more information but she was still willing to help in any way she could. She glanced behind her, hearing bits and pieces of the conversation going on between the high schooler and the middle schooler, a giggle leaving her lips when Steve let out possibly his most embarrassing secret.
"What are you laughing at, Hargrove?" Steve spoke up, his tone sounding threatening although there was a hint of playfulness to it.
Sydney shook her head looking down at the ground as she threw more meat out. "Nothing, Harrington."
His face turned a light shade of pink, knowing she has heard him say the products he used for his hair. He looked over seeing Dustin staring up at him. "What?"
"You like her, don't you?" He whispered although the blonde could hear him faintly.
Steve glanced towards the girl in front of them before his attention turned back to the boy sighing softly. His response was by throwing more meat on the ground, causing a small smile to form on Sydney's lips. She didn't want to keep her hopes up however knowing that he was still in love with Nancy.
The junkyard was possibly the most unique location Sydney has seen since she arrived in the small town; it stood out from the old town. It was also a perfect place for trapping a monster. She walked to the center, dumping out the rest of her bucket, her dark eyes glancing up at Steve.
"I like it medium rare!"
Sydney looked over and smiled softly seeing her stepsister standing by who she assumed was the other stalker she talked about, Lucas. She began to get scraps of metal, helping Steve and Max set up the trap.
"So, how did you get away from Billy?" She asked quietly when it was just her and Max.
"Snuck out the window," The red haired girl replied simply with a shrug.
"You know Billy doesn't like that boy," Sydney began with a raised eyebrow glancing to her sister, a smile forming on her lips. "But he seems to be like a sweet kid, I mean, he's willing to still be around you with an aggressive brother around. Just as long as he doesn't hurt you," She said quietly while leaning over and giving her a light kiss on the head.
As the sun began to go down, Sydney kept herself occupied with her thoughts while they waited for the monster to approach the trap. She leaned against the back of the bus glancing up every once in a while when she felt eyes on her, catching Steve a couple of times. She sighed as she closed her eyes wanting to rest her eyes only for a few moments before she opened them hearing a screech.
"What the hell?" She mumbled bending down behind Steve and Dustin, looking at the foggy area.
"Where is he?" Dustin mumbled only to hear Lucas shout ten o'clock. He furrowed his brows noticing Dart was not taking the bait. "Why isn't he taking the bait?"
Steve sighed. "Maybe he's tired of cattle," He replied before heading over and picking up his bat.
Sydney looked over, following after him. "You're not going out there alone."
"That son of a bitch needs to die and I'm not letting you go out there or those kids go out there and risk your lives without a weapon."
She opened her mouth to argue with the dark haired boy although before he said anything, he walked out to face the monster alone. Sydney walked back over to where she was, frowning when she saw Steve facing the ugly faceless creature alone, going wide eyed when a second one came up behind him.
"Steve!" She shouted running back to the door and opening it up.
"Abort!" Dustin shouted running after Sydney, standing next to her.
"I'm a little busy!" He replied, swinging his bat a bit.
Sydney looked down as Dustin continued to shout, looking back up when he ran over. She held out her hand, pulling him inside and sighed softly when the door was closed and Steve placed a scrap of metal on the door. She looked over at him, breathing a bit heavily. "Dumb ass."
Steve gave her a small smirk although it fell when there was a thud on the roof of the abandoned bus. Sydney ran over to Max when she screamed and pulled her back so she wouldn't get hurt, looking at Steve when he moved in front of them to protect them. When Steve was about to hit it, the monster suddenly ran off.
She furrowed her brows and walked out behind the group, sighing softly as she looked around.
"Where did they go?" Lucas asked.
"Did Steve scare them off?" Dustin added.
"No," Steve replied shaking his head turning to them. "They're going somewhere."
