Well today is the first day of Hadley and Harper's play and I'm a little nervous and excited for them and myself; nervous for them because I want them to have fun and excited because they are doing something they both love. I'm excited for myself, well see back to why I'm excited for them; I'm nervous though because my anxiety is through the roof about running into anyone from the Cooper family since Taryn is in this play as well.
Currently the time is 5:50 p.m. and Cassian, dad and I are in our seats with Cass sitting with his granpa because he said 'granpa was comfy.' Well there you are folks, my son is a sarcastic little person at 2 years old; he just wants to sit with his granpa because granpa isn't as stern with him as his papa. I'm okay with this though because I truly believe that grandparents are supposed to be lenient with their grandkids than they were with their own children.
Glancing around the auditorium to see if I can spot any of the Coopers and sigh in relief when I don't spot any of them in the sea of people. Finally the play starts with the lights dimming signaling everyone to settle down in their seats and to become quiet.
An hour later, the intermission starts allowing everyone to stretch their legs and for the actors and actresses to change their outfits, rest for a moment and the stage hands to change the set. During this time I've decieded that it would be perfect to allow Cassian to run around and burn off some energy. I have to admit I am very proud of my baby boy, he has been very quiet and still during the first hour of the play. I think Cass is very fasinated by the colors, lights and music. He was also excited when he saw Hadley and Harper on the stage; instantly hollering when he saw them. I wasn't even embarressed when he did it either; Hadley and Harper just waved and that made Cassian happy.
Dad comes with Cassian and I as we head to the entry way, where Cass can run some and be a little loud in hopes that he will either fall asleep during the last part or be just as good has he been.
Tristan's P.O.V.
During the first hour of the play, I swear that they had cast the same child as two of the main characters - Peter Pan and Captian Hook until both characters were on stage together when I realized that the children who are playing the two main characters are twins. These twins look like Hayden and it makes me wonder so I start looking around the auditorium to see if I can find him or his father or mother if these two boys are really Hayden's little brothers. I cannot see anyone but the auditorium is pretty dark, so I'll have to look again during the twenty minute intermission.
Walking to stretch my legs with my parents I notice in the lobby Mr. West and chasing after a young toddler, both giggling like mad but when the said toddler latches himself around the legs of a man with his back to me, I start to wonder if perhaps the man is Hayden.
I'm shocked into my spot when the toddler squeals out "papa, up!" at the man, who picks him up and turns slightly with the child in his hold and I see it is Hayden.
It brreaks my heart some that he has had a child with a woman even if I don't think they are together since there is no woman around them. Observing them for several minutes, there is no woman with them that I can find and that is definitly Hayden and his son with Mr. West with them. so the twin boys must be Hayden's younger brothers but looking around I wonder where Tommy and Lyssa are.
Deciding I need to take the bull by the horns, I walk silently to the three of them in order to talk to Hayden. Stopping about a foot behind Hayden, who is still holding the little boy and his father, I take a deep breath and hold it longer than I planned on when the little boy looked at me. Fuck, he looks almost exactly like Hayden when his hair isn't died but I swerar her looks like me as well.
Inhaling deeply at the sight of this beautiful child in front of me, catching Hayden and Mr. West's attention; both turn toward the sound of my sharp breath. Mr. West's expression is hard for me to read but Hayden's is not; his flux between recoginition, anger, regret, sadness and fear; fear being the one they lingers in his eyes.
