Hayden West is raising his son alone, not because Cassian's other dad, Tristan doesn't want him...he doesn't know Cassian exists. Cassian is now 2 years old, Hayden is 20 years old.
Hayden has never found the time nor courage to tell Tristan about their son. Granted they've never run into each other either; forcing Tristan to question if he has a son let alone with they guy he likes and had sex with while drunk at a party at the end of the senior year of high school.
Tristan has continued on with his life, sort of; he's attending college and playing the field while away at college. Whenever he has sex with people, he pretends that they are Hayden. He still has a soft spot in his heart for the one who got away. Tristan's hoping that when he finishes college, he can find Hayden and prove to him that he's worthy of Hayden's love.
One day while attending a play that Taryn (Tristan's younger sister) at the Play House in town, he realizes that two of the younger boys look like Hayden. During the intermission, Taryn spots Hayden and Holdon with a little boy and Tristan decides to take the bull by the horns and talk to Hayden then and there.
