Things in my perspective goinggreat between Mackenzie and I the past few weeks; Withing the timeframe I have learned a few things about Mackenzie and got to knowher. Mostly from watching her reactions to certain things andlistening and meeting some of her other "Friends" like Hayley.
Dana's parents have been a awayfor a few days the past week, attending her uncle's wedding. So withno thought of a plan in her questioning existence of a brain Danathought it would be 'fun' to a party while her parents were gone. Nownormally I am always against underage drinking but I also couldn'tjust let one of them do something stupid and they end up gettinghurt; that would make me feel guilty, especially if Mackenzie gothurt. I thought that it would be a little responsible to havestayed and watched after the girls; I didn't really see any harm inthat, other than if the neighbors calls the police than yeah, I'd bescrewed. Thankfully no one lived close enough to hear anything. I saton the coach closest to the door, keeping a sober eye on Dana,Mackenzie and Hayley; well it's easy to see that my attendance therewas short lived. I tolerated Hayley's presence when she wouldpractically be up in Mackenzie's ass every second when they wouldcome over, but I knew exactly why Hayley was behaving like this asshe kept her eye sharply on me.
Hayley didn't like me from thebeginning and that was as obvious as the sky being blue on our firstencounter when she had said, 'so you're Carter?' with a nasty andover zealous tone in her voice which kinda gave me an ego boost sinceit implied that Mackenzie talked about me. Which kind of made meblush.
Along my long lasting tolerance ofHayley being an annoying little STD in my life, it made me angrybecause I know Mackenzie wasn't happy anytime Hayley included herselfin our plans, example; today. It was only suppose to be the three ofus but the second Hayley texted Mackenzie's cell and she told herHayley she was hanging her, no less than twenty minutes later Hayleywas at the freaking door.
As the night progressed mypatience wore thin and my anger was bubbling at the seems as I satacross the room watching Hayley fawn all over Mackenzie; touching herwith her stubby sausage link fingers. I couldn't endure it anymoreand that bottle of rum on the coffee table had been calling my namefor the past hour, "Sadly I got to go; those of us with jobs haveto work." I said standing up, grabbing the bottle of rum andchugging it down like soda; the rum hit me quicker than I expected asmy vision came blurry, "Dana, I'll see you sometime tomorrow." Iannounced to the girl from the bar window, who as normally wasrummaging through the fridge.
"You going to make it homeokay?" She teased.
"Yep. So I'll talk to you laterD and Kenzie; I'll see you later." I whispered in her ear a bitsuggestively after kissing her cheek gently and sweetly anddangerously close to the curve of Mackenzie's lip before walking outof the house; wearing a huge victorious grin on my own lips andtrying not to have a heart attack.
My head swirled, like I had beenhit with a bad cause of vertigo as the fresh air hit me and all ofthoughts were the same, ohmygod ohmygod ohmygod ohmygod; OH MYGOD!!!!!
What the hell did I just do and whyam I so strangely happy about it? 'What the hell is wrong with youCarter?'
I can't believe I just kissed her!I can't believe I just KISSED freaking Mackenzie! Sure it was just akiss on the cheek and it didn't mean anything, but to piss off Hayleyand show her who the alpha female here was.
Walking across the yard I finallymade it to my door, but I could barely get my key to turn as my handsshook to much, my heart thumbed in my chest like a drum making it abit hard to breath from the swelling anxiety.
The next morning I had endured themore than lovely nine mile bike right from home to work and givemyself even more of a work out scrubbing floors and moving industrialsized ovens, grills and coolers that out weigh me by a ton.
