Entering the local police station the team gathers back up in their conference room. Hotch stands at the end of the table and places his hands on the table firmly, "What did you guys get from each kid?"
Derek shifts in his chair twirling his pen in his hand, "David said he heard noises come from downstairs so he got curious and went downstairs."
Emily joined in the discussion about the first victim's child, "He also said when the Unsub saw him, he put his gun down and grabbed by the collar and threw him in the closet."
Derek finished off the report, "According to David the Unsub said, 'Don't come out till I say you can. When will you learn your lesson boy, you better be glad your mother is home.' We asked him what that meant but he had no clue like us."
The boy genius swiftly scribbled down the sentence and analyzed it with a stern eye. Hotch continues on with the report turning his attention to Rossi and JJ.
The Italian man sat comfortably in his chair, "Alice said the same thing, hear a noise from downstairs and when to go see what was happening."
JJ stood behind Rossi and continued as well, "She said the Unsub was wearing a mask when the murder was happening." With that JJ pointed out one more thing, "Alice said when the Unsub was locking her up he said, 'I can't let mom and dad hurt you, so I'll put them to rest my sweet princess.'"
Again, the genius scribbled down the sentence under David's, with a sigh of confusion the team turns to him. Derek chuckled at the boy, "Something wrong Pretty Boy?"
The Pretty Boy turned around and looked at the team, "Yeah. The two statements don't make sense? David's sounds like the Unsub was mad at him or the father was abusing him. Alice's sounds like the Unsub was caring and protective of her."
Emily shoots out an idea, "Maybe the Unsub has a split-personality? Feels aggressive towards the boys and protective towards the girls."
The genius shoots down Emily's idea, "No that's impossible. The way he was towards David sound like David's father abused him and his mother was his saving grace. With Alice, the Unsub sounded like he really cared about the girls, like his valued his own mother's life or a sister's."
Rossi sits up straight in his chair and adjusts his blazer, "If he's sweeter towards the girls, what keeps him from kidnapping them? If he's protecting them, then why not take them with you?"
"Maybe the girls cry when she hears her parents getting killed and the Unsub can't take it so he leaves after he's done killing?" JJ threw out in the discussion.
Derek can see the genius's mind working a lightning speed, "What do you think Reid?"
The genius, Spencer Reid, shoots his shot, "What if he only shows remorse only for the crying girls? What if a girl was screaming and shouting while locked in the closet, would he ignore it and tell her to be quiet -"
Hotch finished his thought process, "Or would he kidnap her and later kill her for not being quiet." His jaw tightened, "Whatever it is we need to find him before he strikes again. Let's work on leads and finalize the profile."
