I'll Protect You, I Promise!

Chapter 12

The next morning, the Melody family left the house for a morning breakfast fest at a local diner. Unknowingly, the man in the black car that had been stalking them, he exits his car and lingers towards the house watching the family turn the corner to head for the road.

Meanwhile, at the diner, Reid and JJ are also at the diner enjoying breakfast together before they meet everyone else at the station. JJ sets down her fork and ponders on the Unsub, "I still can't get over this case. I mean, what drives a person so crazy that you would want to murder an innocent family and orphan their kid?"

Reid sets down his glass, "Someone who didn't love their parents? When I sent my mom to the hospital I thought I was the world's worst son. Also, when my dad left I was so angry I wanted to find him and hurt him."

JJ looks at Reid in shock, "Woah, Spence I didn't know you that much anger before." She looked out the window and saw a sweet little family walking down the sidewalk towards the diner, "Aw, look at them. It reminds me of when Will and I took Henry out for a walk in the park, he was so happy and giggly." Spencer looked out the window as well and saw the family.

The family entered the diner, it consisted of a mother, a father, and a little girl who looked to be about 10 years old. Spencer couldn't keep his eyes off the girl, she had long brown hair, blue eyes as clear as an ocean, she was wearing jean shorts, a white shirt, and little red sneakers. The girl saw Spencer and JJ so she waved at them being the cute girl that she is, "Hi."

While the family was waiting in line to order at the counter the girl heard something fall from behind her, it was a name tag. She left her mother's hand to go retrieve the name tag, she picked it up and saw the picture of a man with short brown scruffy hair, part of a tie, and a purple collar. She scanned the name tag even more and found a name, "Dr. Spencer Reid" and in the corner of the tag read "FBI Behavioral Analysis Unit." The girl found the man and held out the tag towards the man, "Excuse me. Are you Dr. Spencer Reid?"

The Doctor looked down at the girl, "Yes I am, why?"

She handed him the name tag, "I heard it fall on the ground. Are you a cop or something?"

Spencer and JJ smiled, "Kind of. I'm with the FBI, my friend and I are both FBI agents." JJ waved at the girl. "What's your name?"

The girl smiled, "I'm Lyric Melody." After her introduction, she heard her name be called, "Lyric! Don't you dare wander off." She was the agents looking a Lyric, "I'm so sorry, she never does this. I'm sorry, enjoy your day."

JJ spoke out, "It's no worry, ma'am, Lyric was just giving my partner his badge back. She picked it up off the ground." The mother smiled, "Oh. That makes sense. What do you say Lyric when someone thanks you?"

Lyric perked up, "You're welcome sir." With that, the mother and daughter walk back to the line.
