I wonder what today holds. I have painted my nails green and I take out my favourite pair of earrings. I have gained a little weight in the last week, my hips look full and my skin glows. I am in love. I wonder if I will see him around campus. I wonder what he will say, I wonder what I won't. I wonder if we will leave the moment behind and escape to ourselves, like we did last time. I wonder if we might kiss under the guava tree behind the bus stop. I'll buy him an artichoke from the old fruit-seller at the end of the street, I might tell him that they remind me of him. I might tell him, if the moment gives. I wonder if it will. I wonder if I will dare.
For a moment, I look almost beautiful in the mirror. My body feels better with the weight of promise. It is October.
