Nick's POV
I hate this school so damn much. I'm currently sprinting away from Charles and his 'gang', and when I say sprint, I mean running for my life, well, not literally but hey, drama club come at me, actually no, don't, I'm like the shyest person in this country never mind this school.
I ran around a corner and before I knew it I was colliding with 2 people. I looked up and noticed it was the people who saw me under the stairs with a few others, great. Just fab.
One of the ones that fell with me had blond hair with bits of black and the other had blue hair, I quickly stood up, but I was still looking down as I gave them their stuff that fell with us.
"Lost breath, did ya" I turned around to see Charles and the rest there, I quickly swerved round the group of 13 and started sprinting again, I have P.E after this fuck me.
I got to the P.E department, went into the changing room and then went into the bathroom in the changing room. There was one bathroom and three shower cubicles in each changing room and I always got one of the 4. I made sure of it, nobody needs to see my body, the bruises, the cuts, the...other..cuts, the scratches and all that.
I quickly got changed and doing so I heard the rest of my class come into the changing room. Most of the guys would wear a plain short-sleeved tee with shorts but I wore joggers, a tee and a hoodie on top, again, no one needs to see that.
I got out of the bathroom and placed my stuff in one of the lockers, no one stealing my shit, it's valuable. I then sat down on one of the benches along with a few others that where changed to wait for our teacher.
"Okay guys, we're going outside today to to some cross country. I heard groans throughout the room as I don't think anyone enjoyed cross country. Shit, it's raining outside, I have makeup on my eye to cover my black eye. I guess if anyone asks - which I doubt they will - I could just say it was the guys chasing me today.
And again, I suck at observing because 4 out of the 13 in that damn group where also in this class.
"Okay lads, all you have to do is run round the track for the remainder of the period, I'll take you back inside at 10 to the bell so you'll have enough time to get changed, and it's already been 10 minutes, which means you have half an hour left to do this. Keep your own score and you get one walking lap maximum, go." Coach Robertson explained.
I didn't care about this, at all, everyone set off running apart from me, I kinda just walked until my teacher stopped me, he came up and walked beside me.
"Nick, come on, do some running" he smiled. I kinda looked at him with a 'done with your bullshit' expression. You see, I don't know why. But I'm okay with talking to teachers and having conversations with them, but I suck when it comes to teens. As an emo god once - or many times - said 'teenagers scare the living shit outta me' and I can relate.
"Nick, come on, it'll be good for you. I've seen you run before and your good, you can go on for a long time, it's pretty impressive if you ask me" I rolled my eyes and kept walking as a few people ran past.
"Ughh, work with me here, please"
"It's cold, wet and I'm just not in the mood" I looked at him then looked back down again.
"Come on, if not for you, do it for me, your a good student Nick, I know you are. I'll tell you what, if you run, I'll let you leave 5 minutes early, and I'll even keep your score for you, you don't have to keep track, just run and don't stop" he smiled. I looked up at him for a second and started running.
For the record, it's not for him, it's because I want to leave early, I hate the rush of students going to their next class.
"Yes, that's the Nick I've seen before, thank you!!" He shouted as I ran along, I ran past a few people, I'd say they all done about a lap while I had that conversation.
I guess I'm really good at running because of Charles and the rest, in a way I should thank them....nah.
Painfully long minutes went by and he finally called us in.
"Okay, if you did, let's say, 2 laps and got to about half a lap, it would be 2500 because 1000 is the length of the track and 500 is half. If you did about a quarter more after full laps, add 250 and if you did three quarters more, that's 750, come over to me in a line and I'll record all your marks" everyone got in a line, me being about 5th because I wanted to leave early.
"3500"
"2750"
"2250"
"3250"
"And Nick, Um, you got 4750" He spoke loud and clear so every one could hear. Dammit sir. I heard a few 'damns' and 'wows' But I hated it, I hated the attention.
I got out of the changing room about to ask if I could leave now but he got there first.
"Nick, could you speak to me, when all the other students are gone?" The teacher asked.
"But you said I could leave early?"
"I know, but I know the reason you like leaving early is so you don't get trampled on by all the rushing students, so you'll be late therefore will be none, I can email your next teacher why your late"
"Being late is worse than being trampled on, everybody stares at you when you walk in"
"Ugh, fine, after school, as soon as the bell rings, come back down here"
"I need to get back home quick"
"Please, I really want to discuss this with you"
"....*sigh* fine" I finally answered.
"Yessss! See you in a bit, you can leave now since the bell hasn't rung yet and your the only one changed, see you later"
Okay I decided to post the second chapter as well just to kinda give you a basis of what's happening (even though this chapter doesn't really describe anything, but hey) anyway, I'll try to publish a new chapter every week or every other week more or less, you'll be like if I post twice a week. I have about 10 chapters written so far so hopefully I'll actually remember to write more 🙃.
