Lloyd's POV

The news came back quickly that his foster parents were arrested. With the evidence and Nick's statement, it was easy to do so. However they will still need to go to court, but they're almost 100% certain Nick will win.

I guess now I can reveal the reason I had to talk to my mum.

Basically for a couple of months now, my parents wanted to adopt another child since they were incapable of having another one.

IVF was an option but it was way too expensive so they decided on adoption.

I was hesitant at the start but they said they wanted to get someone of a similar age to me, so gradually I became accustomed to the idea.

As soon as I knew Nick had no parental authority I just had to ask them.

They've met Nick before and they loved him, always treating him the best when he came round with the others. I think they felt bad for him but they would always gush about how nice and polite the kid was.

And so now they are on their way to the hospital. I told them the entire story and they concluded that they wanted to adopt him as soon as I finished.

But now I need to talk to Nick.

I crept into his room to make sure he wasn't asleep. Most of the guys had gone home now but some of them were around and about, probably trying to obtain food from the vending machines.

They knew of the plan so they tried to stay away to give us privacy.

"Hey Lloyd" he beamed when he saw me enter, probably happy to talk to someone as he'd been stuck in this hospital bed for a few hours now.

"Hey Nick" I smiled back, closing the door behind me.

"So, I have a question" I continued, Nick tilting his head to the left like a confused puppy before nodding to indicate I go on.

"I don't mean to make this so soon, but since you won't be allowed to live with Len and Clara anymore, where will you go?" I whispered, scared that he'd answer something different to what the plan is.

At that nick looked past me, deep in thought.

"I-" he began, unsure of where to go next.

"I- I don't know" he spoke quietly, now looking down as he fiddled with his hands.

At that moment I got a call from my mother and I quickly picked up.

"What room are you guys in, we just arrived?" She spoke into the phone, not on speaker.

"Floor 4, room 205" I smiled and Nick looked over at me confused.

"Okay, I'll see you in a few moments" I smiled even wider as I turned off the phone.

"Who was that?" He wondered out loud.

"Oh, just my mum" I answered, putting my phone back into my pocket.

"What was she saying? Why is she coming up here?" He began to ask more questions.

"Hush child, you'll know when she gets here" that caused Nick to pout but it'd be worth it in the long run.

A few minutes passed by and my parents quietly knocked on the door. I allowed them in and we all looked at an understandably confused Nick.

"Okay, Nick. I'll start off by saying my parents have wanted to adopt someone for quite some time now, many months" if Nick's face could even get any more skeptical, that's what it was right now.

"They wanted them to be around my age. So, for you, for you to be safe and actually cared for. Looked after in a proper family with loving parents and a pretty cool brother" I pointed at myself.

"We propose the idea of my parents adopting you into our family" Nick looked at us with wide eyes, the clogs turning in his head as he tried to piece everything together.

"What?" He spoke quietly, mostly to himself.

"We want to adopt you Nick, of course it's your choice and you can take as much time as you need to decide. But we really think this would be good for you" my father spoke, getting closer to the boy.

Nick looked up with teary eyes, directly at me.

"You'd- you'd do that...for me?" Some of the tears spilled.

"Of course!" I nodded vigorously, hoping he'd accept the offer.

"Again, you can take as much time as you-" my mum began but was quickly cut off by the now crying boy.

"Yes" he beamed.

"Yes?" I spoke before realizing.

"Oh yes! Yes!" I ran up and engulfed him into a hug, my parents quickly following.

"Thank you" he muttered, tears now freely falling from all four of us as we hugged tighter.

"Obviously we can't sign the paperwork until the court case is over, but I know you'll win the case, we have no doubts" my mother spoke, pulling away as we all continued to cry.

And he did, he won the case. He'll finally be in a safe, caring and loving family being well looked after. With 3 meals a day and family time every Friday night.

He'll get to play with our dog and take her on walks with me.

He'll be able to talk about how good or bad his school day was at dinner, where we all sit down and eat together.

He'll be able to ask if he needs any help with school work, or go grocery shopping with us.

Oh

And of course he'll have a really cool brother.
