🐉Greetings! Welcome to my Genji x Mercy fanfiction! Sorry this first chapter is so short. The first few chapters will be about Genji's life growing up as a Shimada and how he reacted. These characters and art are NOT mine. I do not own any of it. The story may not be acurate either. It is just what I think happens. Hence the word "fanfiction". I hope you all enjoy!~Maddy🐉

"Hanzo? Please make it quick, because...I am afraid of the pain...

Hanzo?

Hanzo!"

"Hm?"

Hanzo turned to see his skinny younger brother with soft spiked green hair staring up at him.

"Is everything ok brother?"

"Y-yes. I'm fine."

"Well then let's go. Father has reservations to get tayaki at 1:00."

"Let me put my tie on."

"I hope this doesn't take too long. I hate wearing a suit. Everything is tight and pinches."

Hanzo chuckled a bit and fixed his brother's collar.

"It shouldn't be too long Genji. I know you don'tike these meetings, but if you don't want to be nannied we need to start joining father for these sit downs. Besides, this is our family legacy."

Genji crossed his arms and looked at Hanzo sternly.

"Why couldn't father be the owner of an amusment park or something?"

Hanzo laughed.

"Our family has been in this business for generations. It would be unwise to contribute to something else."

Genji sighed.

"C'mon brother. Father is waiting."

The two boys ran outside and hopped into a black limousine. Inside was Sojiro Shimada and two clan member body guards. Genji always snickered at them because they had funny hairstyles. Hanzo looked over and nudged Genji's arm. He stopped laughing and sat with his head down. Hanzo looked over to Sojiro.

"Father? What will this meeting be about?"

"We are trying to do trade with another clan. This sit down will either affirm or deny that relationship."

He looked over at Genji whi seemed nervous.

"I'll try to make it as quick as possible."

Genji looked up at his father. Hanzo and Sojiro always took care of him. Durring combat training Genji always cries at even the little things. When he falls over or even when he gets pat on the back, because he is scared. He's scared of the pain. The limo finally stopped and Genji hopped out of the car with his brother. When Sojiro stepped out a number of guards stood around him and escorted him to the restaurant. Inside it had been cleared of people even though they were using the private room towards the back. The restaurant had tall ceilings and dim lit light fixtures making the room feel fancy and professional. Genji followed his father and older brother to the private room where another man was sitting at a large table waiting for them. His intense look sent chills down Genji's spine. His shaky hand pulled a chair out from under the table and he sat in silence. Genji waited for his father to finish greeting the strange man before looking back up again. His father was wearing a stern grin. Hanzo was also sitting down and sat upright to act professional. He greeted the strange man too.

"Mr. Shimada I hope we can get this over with clean and easy. We can help eachother if we work together."

"Be careful Mr. Ito. A single grain of rice can rip the scale. You will not always get what you desire either. I'm going to have to ask you to loosen your grip."

"What do you want Sojiro?"

"I want an alliance, but if you get attacked I don't deem it my duty to help defend your clan. I have many alliances with other clans. Defending you would risk all of it."

"You cannot be serious Mr. Shimada?"

Sojiro looked at Mr. Ito sternly.

"I am."

"Very well, have it your way. We do not need your defenses, but I'd be willing to keep the trade."

"Then it is settled."

A waiter came by with waters and two glasses of Saké. He set one of the glasses in front of Mr. Ito and one in front of Sojiro. Mr. Ito smiled holding up his glass.

"To a new alliance Mr. Shimada."

Sojiro grinned at the man and then looked down at his sons.

"Hanzo? Take your brother to the car. I'll be out soon."

"But father, we have not-"

"Now Hanzo!"

Hanzo gasped and got down from his chair.

"Let's go Genji."

Genji nervously followed behind. He looked back to see Mr. Ito taking a drink. The door closed behind them. Genji and Hanzo stopped when they heard muffled coughing from the other side of the door. Genji gasped and turned around.

"Hanzo? What's-"

"No brother. Don't worry about it. I'm sure father is ok. Let's just go."

Genji and Hanzo both waited impatiently in the limo. Genji looked up to finally see his father walking out. He saw him adjust his blazer and look around him before getting in the car.

"Father! What happened?"

"Mr. Ito poses a severe threat to the other clans, including our own my sons. This is a good lesson for your futures as sons of the Shimada clan. If you are to survive in this world, you need to make tough decisions. Do you understand my boys?"

Hanzo and Genji stared wide eyed.

"Father," Hanzo began, "Is Mr. Ito dead?"

"Like I said. A good clan leader makes tough decisions to honor his people. It's important that you boys learn that."

Hanzo and Genji were both silent the rest of the way back to Shimada palace.
