Chapter 12 Awkward

"Alright ladies let's start with some warm ups." Coach Jenna said as she blew her whistle .

We all did the regular US warm up and got right into the running.

"Alright, if you wanna be in this program and make one of our teams, we are looking for three things you need to have, confidence, good sportsmanship, and endurance. Those three things are key for our runner because we only choose the best. We also like to see if you have potential, if you really want to be here or your parents do." Coach said.

That whole "speech" made me a little nervous but I know I want this a lot not just my parents.

"We are going to be splitting into four groups for a relay. So the first group will stay here and the rest will follow me around the track until I call your name."

I took a breath. It's starting.

"First group: Kailee Matthews, Olivia Perez; Jessica Roland, Felicity Goldman, and Courtney James."

I walk over to my lane and stay there. While I'm waiting for the race to start I talk to the girl named Felicity who is really nice actually.

"Hey when it's over wanna go to lunch together? My sister is Coach Jenna so she could drive us,"She said.

"Sure I'd like that, I would just have to text my friend Connor so he knows that he wouldn't need to pick me up."

"Okay great" she smiled.

"On your mark, get set, go!" Yelled Coach.

"Thanks again for lunch Felicity." I said. After countless arguments she paid the bill

"Anytime, Courtney bye!" She said as waved.

I walked up to the O2L house exhausted.

Once I walked in I saw no one there, only boxes.

"Hello? Is anyone home?"

I walked to the counter to put my bag down when I heard "yaaahhhhh." and a huge crash behind me.

I jumped and turned around to see Jc with a nerf gun pointed at me.

"What the hell Jc?!" I said still shaking a bit.

"Sorry Court I thought you were Kian, we are all having a war, it's me Sam and Connor versus Ricky, Trevor and Kian. Since Dom is on his way wanna be on our team and Dom can be on there's?" He asksed.

"Jc I'm exhausted.."

"Pleaseeeee" he said with a sad face.

"Okayy fine"

"yes Courtney you rock" he said. I laughed.

We headed upstairs into the rooms and got everyone to go outside so we could start over and wait for Dom.

We decide to sit at the table and talk.

"So how did the cross country thing go today Court?" Sam asked. "Pretty good, a lot better than I thought, thanks to Connor for making me feel more confident when I went in, and I met someone who is really nice named Felicity." I told them.

"Glad I could help Courtney," Connor says with a smile and patted me on the back.

"Was she hot?" Kian asked. "What?" I replied laughing a bit. "This Felicity chick, was she hot?"

"Kian!"I yelled and the guys laughed a bit.

"I'm sorry, I'm sorry, but hey, can't blame me for trying," he puts his hands up like he is innocent.

"For starters Kian she is fifteen, so it wouldn't be right, considering your 19. And second I like guys so I can't wager in on this ." I said.

"Yeah, Sam" he said quieter but loudly enough so everyone can hear. The guys laughed a bit but when they looked at me they stopped. I blushed from embarrassment.

"I think I'm gonna go take a nap before Dom gets here," I said and walked away.

I may have feelings for Sam but not like I was obsessed with him, they were fangirl feelings. It wasn't that obvious. I don't even know anymore.

I know Kian didn't mean to be rude, it just kinda hit me.

I heard a knock on the door. I'm lying in Connor's bed, the only one that isn't packed away.

"Hey Courtney can we talk?"

It was Kian. I sat up

"sure,"

he sat next to me.

"listen Courtney I'm really sorry, I didn't mean to make you feel awkward. Sometimes I forget that your a lot younger than us"

"It's okay Kian" we hugged it out. "Come on I gotta kick your butt in our war," he said.

"In your dreams Lawley," I say and smiled
