WRITE SOMETHING EVERY DAY!
This part is to say that from all I've researched and read, there IS NO KNOWN CURE for writer's block! Just a tremendous amount of SUGGESTIONS to help, or perhaps help, but some writers never overcame it.
I'm putting it down to being older and have so much more I can choose to do; many more people that I know, family added to in all directions; bereavements as well which mess up one's emotional stability.
One of the many articles about this block, this wall we hit .... https://www.wix.com/blog/content-writing/2018/05/13-tips-to-overcome-writers-block/
I've decided that writer's block is rather like having a cluttered house, so much so that it seems impossible to 'declutter' so we just abandon the idea of being clutter free and live amongst it all. Writer's block, is, to me, having so many ideas to work on, I don't know which one to do next, so I just do one of the many other tasks I have lined up. Also, I currently have a problem 'finishing' - this has been ongoing for the past several years! You'd think I'd worked out a way through it, but here it is.
The best I can do is to keep on keeping on and doing a little of everything every day so that at the end of the day, I can see a clear space and a full rubbish bin, recycling bins and boxes with stuff in them; and with writing, even a poem is something; a chapter, a short 'part'...
To write shorter works will mean having the encouragement of something finished! — For instance — these 'parts' here on Wattpad.com! I'd like to achieve a chapter, or part per day for a month! This put into finishing the unfinished would mean that I did really complete books! I'll allow myself to try this for the next month, starting from today. By next Wednesday night, New Zealand time, I need to see a total of 7 parts here on Wattpad.com. Wow, that would be great as I've not been finding / making / using / time to actually write every day. I do create a Bible verse image every day of the week, but don't always post these to my other work here which is titled: "Verse Images and Poems" https://www.wattpad.com/myworks/162779306-bible-verse-images-and-poems — my goal was to write a poem per day to match the verse image I created; the images are completed, but not a poem a day.
Hopefully, sharing the progress on the four unfinished works I have on Wattpad.com will soon mean that all six are finished - yes, two are 'completed' for which I praise the Lord!
YES! So, WRITE SOMETHING EVERY DAY! — This is my suggestion, the only one I can project that will truly work. Write something then write down what that something was, with a date on it...
I will report back here on this work in one week whether I managed to do 7 chapters, or 'parts' in one week's time and as proof, I'll list what I have done. To write something every day for a week will be a great achievement.
I MUST - WRITE SOMETHING EVERY DAY!
And I pray "Lord, please help me! —This I pray,
Help me, my Lord, to use my gifts, the talents you have given me;
To produce the fruit of my creativity.
Lord I pray, in Your Name I pray, do not let my creativity drift away. Amen"
Reporting back about the past week:
I wasn't sure as to WHERE I should 'report back' so decided to do it here - the past week has been very busy. I so needed to do some clearing of stuff in my garden; also to work on 'decluttering' in my house. I did manage to do a number of hours on both. Also, for 7 days, I have worked on my writing here on Wattpad.com and here is the report:
The first week:
01-Wednesday 10 September 2018 - (Blog) - Part 29 - Overcoming Writer's Block - Step 2 (this post was first 'published' last Wednesday but now has changes to it so it forwards the 'publish' date to today.
02-Thursday 11 - (Verse-Poem) Part 8 - "My Favourite Day is Today"
03-Friday 12 - (Verse-Poem) Part 9 - "Strength"
04-Saturday 13 - (Blog) Part 30 - Poem: "I'll Be Myself"
05-Sunday 14 - (Verse-Poem) Part 10 "Love"
06-Monday 15 - (Verse-Poem) Part 11 "Serve"
07-Tuesday 16 - (Blog) "Sunsets(a)"
The last one was finished today, Wednesday and the next one has been begun today, Wednesday - I'm going to just number them and give the week's date, as some days I might do 2 or 3 parts and other days, not any. The goal is to do 7 parts per week and I'm so pleased to have achieved this for my first week. I will update here, on this part in 7 more days. So, far, Praise the Lord, this is helping me defeat my 'writer's block' - I guess it is being accountable to myself and others as well as having a reachable goal. (I'm thanking the LORD for this success so far and praying for success in the garden and on the home front as well - decluttering my life...)
