We were running, hearts pounding, legs aching. The sirens were blaring loud in our ears. And truth be told we were scared out of our minds. We had been running from Delta for so long that I forgot what it’s like to not be hunted. On this trip we came to get the Aegis. Legend has it that if you took one look at the shield you would fall to the ground in pure panic and terror. And we were going to be the ones to prove it.
My name is Max Ophelia, I am a 17-year old girl from cambridge, England, I am just a normal girl, a normal girl who steals magical ancient artifacts and uses their power to fight an evil team called delta. My best friend Paige and I remove these artifacts and replace them with identical replicas, protecting their magic from getting into the wrong hands.
My name is Paige Evangeline, I am 17 years old and to be honest I never really had a home, until I met my best friend Max. I used to live in Manhattan, New York, with my friend Destiny Hunter, she was two years older and acted more like my mother than my own mom, but that didn't matter she was the best friend I had ever thought I had. That was, until Delta got her. They took her from me, the only person that knew what I have been through. They took her they made her evil, they stole her innocence. she has never been the same since.
Paige and I met during summer break, about 3 years ago, I flew out to manhattan to work at my aunt’s shop. One day a girl walked in, she looked as if she has been through a twister. Her clothes were mismatched and shredded, her face was grimy, and her feet were bare. I didn’t trust this girl’s look, she had a broken look in her face, and the flame in her eyes has gone dull. She walked up to the rack closest to the door and grabbed something with her dirty, frail hands and took off down the street. I burst out the door and whipped my head around trying to find where she had went, but by the time I had gotten out there, she was out of sight.
I stop, out of breath, I hadn’t run like that since They took Destiny from me a month ago. I ran for days and days, trying to find her, but she seemed to had completely disappeared off the face of the earth. I stop thinking of Destiny as soon as I started. I couldn't do it, couldn’t bring myself to think of how badly I had failed her, she was my best friend and now she's gone.
I was walking to my aunt’s apartment, alone for she had to stay late. I came across a poorly lit alleyway, and to my surprise, I saw her. The thieving girl who stole from my aunt. She didn’t notice I was there at first, her eyes looked glassy, as if she had been deep in thought, lost, in her own mind. I slowly crept up to her, emerging through the shadows. I tapped her on the shoulder, I got a startled look in response.
I was lost in my mind for too, long she found me, the girl I had see eyeing me down from the counter as I grabbed a new set of clothing to wear this year. Luckily, do to living on the streets and not having much food, I had been about the same size for the past 3 years but, the dress I had now was starting to fall apart so I had to get another. She tapped me on the shoulder and dropped me from my thoughts,, I was lost for so long it scared me to come back into reality.
I carefully walked to her, yelling “ why would you steal from a poor lady like my aunt? ”. Suddenly, Her eyes welled with tears threatening to burst. “ I needed to. ” she stuttered.. “ why? Don't you have someone to buy your clothes? ” I asked. By now tears were streaming down her sunken cheeks. “ no. “ she whimpered.
