Before I can react, I'm whisked away from him, further back to where the food booths are. I look around and relax. I couldn't let him keep that control of me. That emotion over me. I refused.
Matt leads me to a food booth with a lot of women in it, then a bunch of men working the grills beside it. Almost every booth was the same in terms of that aspect. Women serving from the inside, men cooking it from the outside. "Church booths", Matt fills me in. "They're all ran by churches in the town. Cool right?".
I nod because it was cool. Interesting as well. Matt leads me to a booth that was built like a small white church, steeple and all. I don't have time to react before a woman with long brown hair and eyes like Matt's approaches us. "Mom, this is Addison".
And just like that, I'd met his mom. Then came his dad, which is nothing like how I expected a southern father to be. He was soft, gentle, kind. Then came the 14 year old brother, who welcomed me with open arms, very accepting of the fact that I was his brother's girlfriend.
I sit at a table with them, talking a little and smiling with his mom. When Matt gets up to throw the trash away, his mother takes my hand. "We've never been introduced to one of his girlfriend's before" she whispers to me. "He sees a lot in you. I see why", she winks.
The blush is evident, but I was oh so pleased.
The night goes on and Matt wins me a gold fish, a huge teddy bear, and I manage to win him a tiny blue zebra, which he names Frenchie. We go on several rides and the entire time, I see the child like gleam in his eye which is exactly why I wanted to come. This was perfect.
Lastly, as the night comes to a close, we go on the ferris wheel. I snuggle up to him as we get on and he puts a hand over my shoulders as we slowly go up.
Once we reach the top, Matt makes a soft sigh and I look at him, meeting his eyes. "Addy I gotta tell you something before I lose my nerve..", he begins and my heart starts to pound. "I lo-"...
Before he can finish, he's cut off my a loud and piercing police siren filling the air.
