Does anyone have that one pet that they still think about? I did. And she was so beautiful.

>catch an orchid mantis
>didn't believe it was a real insect so I look it up
>holy shit they're gorgeous
>find out you can buy one online as a pet
>scrape together some money and buy one with my paypal
>she comes in the mail with her enclosure and fruit flies to eat
>I take her out of the box and I'll never forget how she looked
>she was small, looked a bit like pic related
>looks up at me with rosy pink eyes
>only had three months in her lifetime, so she was still very young
>I take her out and set her up in her little habitat, feed her some fruit flies, and watch her eat
>she's so cute
>I would sit for hours and watch her eat and clean her little feet
>I name her Callie
>Callie was really social and loved to crawl on my arm
>I'd feed her little droplets of honey on my finger
>I would talk sweet to her and she'd look up at me with those same little rosy eyes
>I would always be so excited to talk to her and see her after school
>she was getting bigger with each molt
>she molted around three times and was close to getting wings
>one day I wake up and see that she tried to molt the other night
>she got stuck in her skin and died
>I took her out of her enclosure, and dug a little hole under my rose bush to bury her in
>I didn't think I'd ever cry so much over a bug
>I left her enclosure the way it was
>it just didn't feel right to take it down
>I never got a replacement mantis, I just let Callie's memory live on
Even though I'm on my own now I still kinda miss her. I'm considering wanting to get another mantis but I'm not sure if I'd have the time now.
