We were standing in a shallow part of the water, and I was hiding behind Dan. I was nervous as all hell, but Dan seemed so calm. Why wasn't he panicking?
The sound was getting closer to the ledge, closer to my bag. I could tell it was only one, though.
We were both looking up but Dan had a small smile on his face. What was happening? Why was he happy? Am I missing something?
They got to the edge, but I couldn't see their face. The figure had long hair and I could tell he was shorter than Dan. He had a bag and placed it down next to mine, and Dan seemed even happier. What? I am beyond confused right now.
He jumped in from the cliff, just like we did. I started to back away but Dan grabbed my arm, stopping me. "It's fine," he said to me, "I didn't choose this place just because I've been here before."
I had no other choice than to trust him. I still didn't understand why he was so calm, or what he, meant.
The man with long hair started to swim toward us, "Hey, Dan!" he said, also having a British accent.
Okay, what is happening?
"Hey, Woody!" Dan replied.
Woody? Who was that?
"Who's that behind you?" He pointed to me and was only about 4 feet away from us.
"This is Jackie. Jackie, this is one of my mates, Woody."
"Hi, Jackie," Woody said waving to me, "When did you find her?"
"Just this morning, actually, and I'm bloody lucky. Where's the rest of the guys?"
Was that some sort of a pun about how I attacked him with a knife?
"I'm not sure, but I'm sure they will show. I haven't seen another human since we split up. Did you tell her yet?"
"Tell me what?" The first words I had said since Woody appeared.
"You know how I told you about how me and my mates separated for our own safety?" I nodded, "Well, we agreed to meet up here, on this exact day if we were still alive."
I was stunned. This morning I thought I was the only human left, and now I find myself with two guys and possibly more.
