In all honesty, even with Alex being the pro driver that he is,I never expected our Camaro to have the slightest chance at this race. It was full of veteran drivers with ultra modified cars and high performance engines. We were nothing but a group of awkward teenagers and a few dragons who worked on cars in what little spare time we had. But somehow we'd run with the pro's and beat them,on Road America to boot. My heart was piratically about to explode from excitement.
"You won!",DJ said as Alex pulled off his helmet.
Alex laughed,"I sure did...but I prefer the Supra you guys built me over anything else,I mean,I love this IROC-Z and I'm gonna have you guys build me one for sure, but the Supra is just better."
I smiled,"it's the best car in the world,I wish Toyota would hurry up and put out the new model so it can trash the Skyline at Nurburgring and we can build on one."
"Screw that",Tristan said,"we NEED to build a Skyline."
"I agree",Josh said.
Alex laughed,"You guys go have fun,my team and I will take care of the car."
I gave Alex a smile before darting off. I found Mom,Dad and Tess sitting in the tailgate of the Ford. Tess was laying lazily in the truck with her tongue hanging out. She was getting looks from people who were passing by and like Joe at IHOP this morning, she didn't seem to care or even notice.
"I had to admit",Mom said as I walked up to the Ford and sat beside her,"I had my doubts about your car winning the race but you did it,I'm proud of you."
Mom hugged me tightly and kissed me between my horns.
"Thank's Mom",I said,"all those hours of sewating, sore paws and achining back was worth it to see it fly across the finish."
"I bet son",Dad said.
"Can we hang around for the auto show?",I asked looking to the ground.
Mom smiled,"of course honey."
"Awesome!",I said hoping off the tailgate.
Tess let off a large yawn and pulled herself up.
"I guess I better keep him in check",she said pulling herself off the tailgate and cracking the bones in her back.
She walked over to me and wrapped her wing around me.
"Alright",she said smiling,"lets go."
Tess and I walked down to the track where the auto show was just starting. Right off the bat i picked out the Toyota GT-ONE TSO32 from last night,a cool looking RUF FS-12,a nice '64 Chevy Corvette Roadster, several model years of Nissan's drift icon the SX and six or seven 2002 Toyota Supras. Joe was showing off his Mustang's engine,Alex had the 92 Supra we'd built him about a year back and Jack was showing off the Falcon and the Camaro while DJ was showing off her Saleen. Tess and I walked down the rows of cars. They came in every color of the rainbow from blue to red to yellow to a girl about Tess's age with a hot pink Skyline GTR Spec-V with a transparent aquamarine stripe and two blue ones on it. Nothing on the car was a solid color and it looked like it would just fade out at any second.
There was another car,a Toyota 2000 GT,that I just found myself drawn to. Tess and I walked over to it and began checking it out.
It was a dark green color which I thought suited it perfectly. It was resting on Toyota Motorsports racing tires and American Racing muscle car style rims. Inside was all modern with red and black Nylon seats,a custom Momo Italy steering wheel, roll cage,Rearaco racing harness and custom silver trim. Resting under the hood was a nice V6 at 3.5 liter displacement and twin Centrifugal Superchargers. It exhaled through wide Teslo headers and the entire car was very well done.
