My alarm went off at the usual time,7:20. School wouldn't start till nine,so I had sometime to clean up and get myself together. Luckily for me,Tristan had come over last night with a spare cloaker,so at least I still had a way of hiding from the people who didn't know I was a dragon...yet.

I hauled my self out of bed and entered my bathroom, looking at myself in the mirror. The swelling on my eye had gone done quite a bit,but it still ached. So did my heart. Like I said,I felt like I'd betrayed my parents by exposing myself and I was worried we'd have to move, again. I shook my head at my image and then showered off. I quickly slipped into a black shirt and tan cargo pants and went down stairs. The smell of pancakes and bacon hit my snout. Mom was standing over the stove, dressed in her orange scrubs,Dad was sitting At the foot of the table, with his plant uniform on and my brothers and sister were nowhere to be seen. I was glad, not because Mom was making pancakes, but because she wasn't mad.

"How's your eye son,Dad asked glancing up from his IPad.

"It's still sore,I replied,so is my snout."

"Come here,Mom said,let me have a look."

I walked over to her as she leaned forward to examine it.

"That's quite a shiner",she said.

Mom pulled a pan cake from the frying pan,"I made you pancakes."

"Thank's Mom,I replied.

I sat down and she brought me a plate with two of the fluffy cakes and five or six pieces of the good smelling bacon, pouring the sticky syrup over them, just how I liked it. As I started eating,Dad turned to me.

"These boys who attacked you Seth,he said,a stern look on his face.

"Trent and his gang."

"Do I need to call their parents?" Dad asked.

"Trent doesn't have parents,I said,he was spawned."

Dad grinned,"And the others?"

"They crawled out of a sewer."

"Would it help if I shoved them back into the sewer",Dad asked grinning.

"It would make things worse,I replied,"besides,I don't think they'll be messing with me anymore."

"Did anyone else see what happened?" Mom asked.

"A girl",I replied.

"What girl,Dad asked.

"She's in one of my classes, she was telling them to leave me alone when it happened."

A look of anxiety crossed my parent's faces. It made my stomach hurt even more than it already was.

"Do you'll thunk they'll tell anyone?" Dad asked seriously.

"No one would believe them anyway,I said as I threw the bacon into my mouth.

"Bridge we'll cross when we get there." Dad said.

He checked his watch."We gotta get going,Dad said turning to Mom.

"Do you want a ride to school Seth?",Dad asked.

"No,I said,I'm okay."

There was a knock on the door. Dad opened it and Tristan and Jack were standing there.

"Morning Mr and Mrs,Allen,Tristan said,is Seth ready?"

"Almost",Mom said,"come in." Jack and Tristan stepped inside.

"Dude,Tristan said, what happened?" He pointed to my eye.

"Trent and his gang happened."

"Did they pants you,Jack asked.

"They  tried,I said taking another bite of my pancakes.

"High school,Dad said, there ain't enough money in the world to make me go back."

"Be good boys,Mom said, and stay out of trouble."

"We will Mom,I said as she and Dad stepped out, I let my cloaker die.

"So what happened man,Jack said pointing at my eye.

"Trent and his gang thought I ratted them out to West,so they jumped me behind the school."

Tristan shook his head,"Should have just burned them."

I put my paw over his mouth. "Dude,I loudly whispered, shut up,you know your not supposed to know!"

Tristan,DJ,Jack and Josh were the only ones who knew I was a dragon, beside my parents. Mom and Dad didn't know that they knew, because I hadn't told them. When Tristan came over with the new cloaker,it was only a quick lie that had kept the secret safe.

"Sorry,Tristan said,"there gone anyway."

Jack's eyes brightened. "Hey,I got the laser from the shop so we can test you."

The laser was a device we used to locate hot spots in engines, they form where the metal on the engine block is to thin. DJ had the idea to use it to measure how hot my fire was, which quite frankly,I was curious about too.

"Awesome",I said.

"Seriously Seth,Tristan said,"it sucks you have to hide who you are under a cheap hologram." "It's like having a Bugatti Veyron you have to leave parked in your garage all the time, why even have it?" "You could be the most powerful kid in school, instead, you get beat up."

"Well Trent and his friends won't be bothering us anymore."I replied.

"Dude",Jack said in surprise,"what did you do?

"I may or may not",I replied,"have spit a ball of plasma at them."

"Dude,Jack said,I wish I could have been there to see you hand down the righteous judgment!"

A smile crossed my muzzle,"If you'd been there you'd have a black eye too,if Tim didn't pants you first."

"If you guys are hungry,I said throwing more of the bacon into the air and catching it in my mouth,"there's pancakes and bacon on the counter."

"Cool,Jack said,"my Mom made gruel for breakfast."

"What the heck is gruel,Tristan asked.

"It's punishment bro,Jack said,"I swear it's what they feed prisoners in Siberian gulags,it seriously tastes like motor oil."

"Why does she make it",I asked licking my snout.

"Because she ate it when she was a kid,but your Mom's pancakes?"

"The only thing better than her looks is her cooking."

"Dude,I said smiling,"shut your mouth."

"I was born in the wrong house."

As Jack began getting pancakes,Tristan turned to me.

"So,did anyone else see you,you know, draconian style?" Tristan asked.

"Shelby",I replied.

'Shelby West,Tristan asked,"the cheerleader?"

"Yeah",I said.

"What did she do?"

"She just stared."

"Wish I'd been there,Tristan said.

"You study for the biology test,Tristan asked.

"A little,in detention you?"

"Nah,Tristan said,"I'm not worried about it."

"You got detention today?"

"Yeah,I said, all week unless you can find a way to get me out of it."

"Maybe you should just fry West,Jack said laughing.

I felt a smile cross my muzzle,"Only in my dreams."

"Come on,I said turning my cloaker back on,"Were going to be late."

We grabbed our bags and walked to school.
