I sat down in the room of my next class. I had Math next which was a relief. Favorite subject, y'all. I was the first one there, thank Thor. I needed some time to breathe. How did I not see that? Hiccup Haddock? After all these years? His last name alone should've given me a clue on who he is. I was so lost in thought that I almost didn't notice another girl enter the room and chuck her bag at me.
"Up." She said.
"Uhm, what?" I said, raising a brow at her.
"That's my seat, girl." She said, not even bothering to send me a glance as she continued texting on her phone. I crossed my arms and held my ground.
"Yeah well, not anymore."
That got her attention. She looked up then sent me a glare, her perfectly arched brow raised. Suddenly, she gasped, almost dropping her phone. Her eyes widened as her expression changed from annoyed to surprise to happy beyond happy. I stared at her for a good solid minute then my eyes widened in realization as well.
It was Heather Haddock. Hiccup's twin sister and one of my closest friends since we were kids. We both shrieked as we our arms around each other in a tight hug.
"Oh my gods! I missed you, Astrid! Look at you! You look gorgeous!" She said as she pulled away to take a good look at me.
I blushed then took a good look at her as well. She lost all her baby fat and now had a slim athletic figure. Her once wild black hair was now tamed and braided down her left shoulder, a few bangs framed her small face. She had the same green eyes Hiccup has and she was currently wearing some light make up that enhanced her already gorgeous features. I bumped her hip playfully.
"Still bitchin' I see."
She laughed. "Yeah well, old habits die hard."
I laughed. I know exactly what she meant. She and I weren't exactly bffs when Hiccup first introduced me to her. In fact, she hated me. She thought I was trying to steal her brother so everytime Hiccup and I hung out at their place, she would always set traps on me until the day I defended her from one of the nastiest bully in pre-school. We've been soul sisters ever since.
"Not much has changed with you, H. You're still slaying!" I told her.
She sat beside me, completely ignoring her Chanel backpack.
"Enough about me, A! I wanna hear all about you! Man, it's been what, seven years since last saw each other?"
Wow. It really has been that long.
"Yeah, we last saw each other when we were ten!" She moved her chair closer to mine.
"When did you guys move to Berk? How's aunt Ingrid and uncle Arthur? You still have Stormfly right?"
I put my hands up to stop her from talking. "Heather, chill." I chuckled.
"We just moved last week. Dad got promoted but his new project was assigned here so we had to move right away. Mom and dad are doing great, by the way-"
"Are you guys staying in Berk for good?" She asked, excitement shining in her eyes as she cut me off.
"To be honest, I'm not really sure. If dad's boss approves of this new project, there might be a big possibility. Fingers crossed, yeah?"
Her smile faltered a bit then perked up. "Yeah, let's not think about that for now. Hey! Has Hiccup seen you yet?"
I rolled my eyes.
"Oh no." She said as she saw my expression.
"Oh, yes. He was in first period and your good for nothing twin brother gladly introduced me to the floor. Like literally."
Her eyes teared up as she laughed out loud. I just deadpanned stared at her.
"You done?" I asked sarcastically. She held up one finger as she coughed out the last of her giggles. She took a deep breathe then faced me again.
"I'm good. Okay, but seriously, what happened to the two of you? You guys were inseparable!"
I sighed then replied, "I don't know. One day we were best friends and the next thing I know, he was this jerk who thinks he owns the land."
More people began to fill in the room as we talked about other things. Turns out Heather was lead cheerleader of the school cheer team. She introduced me to two of her friends and co-cheerleaders; Mala and Atali. These two almost passed up as twins. They looked so alike because both girls had caramel brown hair though Mala's was in a pixie cut while Atali had hers in a neat ponytail and both girls had the same facial features. The only difference is the color of their eyes. Mala's eyes were grey while Atali had green. Heather's two friends welcomed me warmly and even offered to give me a tour after school to which I gladly agreed.
"Hey, bro!" Heather exclaimed as Hiccup entered the room. A few of the girls giggled as he threw them a smile then looked at me with a smirk. I just rolled my eyes at him. Ugh. The chattering of the class died down as the math teacher entered.
As we prepared to take notes of the first lesson, I couldn't help but think about what Heather said. I chanced a glanced behind me where Hiccup was taking out his math book out of his backpack then faced front again.
What did happen between us?
