CHAPTER ONE: Dave Strider's Story

It is a cold windy day in the suburban area of Washington, Frank and Francis are sitting in their living room with their adopted son Dave Strider, whom they met in Houston Texas when he was just a little kid. At the time he seemed like an uncultured little shit but nowadays he's slightly more cultured and still a little shit but even less now. Frank and Francis met Dave when he was 6 years old and living with his guardian Bro Strider. Bro never seemed to be around when Dave was home. He always seemed to be by himself no matter the time of day. The two men were concerned about the boy, later in his life they noticed bruising and scars on the boy. They asked him about it but he never said anything, he had no emotion on his face. Well 3 years later and the two men gained custody of David after a battle with Bro over him. Bro was then sentenced to jail for child neglect and child abuse in several forms. David was then handed over to Frank and Francis who then moved themselves to Washington along with Dave's sister Rose Lalonde.

The 4 of them now reside alongside their friend John Egbert and Jade Harley who also live together with their father. Over the years Dave began to appreciate what Frank and Francis were doing for him and his sister. He often wondered about their life before him, but he never dwelled on it for long since, ya know, he was a cool kid and didn't wish to dwell on possibly emotional topics like his past for example.

Dave quite enjoyed his life now, Bro wasn't very nice to him. He hated him, but he idolized him. He did this because of what Bro said he was doing. He was trying to make Dave stronger, obviously he didn't do it quite right. Dave since then struggles with self image and a few mental problems such as depression, anxiety and a possible eating disorder.

Dave has since then become stronger only in his sense of getting better. He seems to fall back into his stoic cool kid facade quite often and no one seems to know the difference. Dave never shows emotion and sometimes he wishes he did. Dave hides away in his room when he's upset and that's a way his family and friends know something is up. He may not be up for saying that something is wrong but he might be down for a hug if you ask him. He often sits in his room sobbing over his low self esteem.

He constantly wears long sleeves and long pants regardless of the weather. His new dads asked him why and he never told them why. He only shrugged and walked into his room. He had a nightstand beside his bed that he kept secret from everyone. What was held in it was a letter to his friend telling them how he feels about them and what he's been through with Bro. There's another letter in there and it's a suicide note in case Dave ever decides he feels as though that's his only option and there's no hope left in the world. Another thing in there is a razor and a bottle of pills. He keeps all this a secret because he feels like no one would understand what he goes through and no one will like him after he tells them.

That's what Bro did to him and what weighs heavy on his mind to this day. Dave wears long sleeves to hide his scars from battles with Bro and permanent bruises caused by him as well. He also uses it to hide his appearance and the scars he has inflicted upon himself when he is overcome with emotion. His pants are also used to hide his appearance but also to keep him warm. He was rarely ever fed food when with Bro so he is very very skinny. Frank and Francis are very worried about him and encourage him to eat, but he isn't used to it so he tries his best to stomach what he can. His dads care very much about him and are often worried sick.
