Amnesia

Chapter 2

Harvey came through the operation pretty god. He has an broken arm and a few broken rips, but they will heal in no time. It's the head injury, that caused the doctors a reason to worry. But the nurse assured them, that for now Harvey is fine.

„Can we see him, please?" Jessica asks, relief washing all over her body.

„He's still in coma, caused by the head injury, but you can see him. Just follow me." the doctor, called Mrs.Meyers, explained.

They had walked through the whole hospital, when they finally arrived at Harvey's room. 216. Of course, that would be his room number. If the situation wasn't so serious, Donna would have laughed at the irony.

„If you have any questions, you can find me at the end of this floor." the doctor says and walks away, leaving them alone in front of Harvey's room.

„Thanks." Mike murmurs and signs. His best friend seems to be okay and that is everything he cares about at the moment.

Donna opens the door and enters slowly, the others following soon after. And there he is. She hasn't seen him that vulnerable and broken ever before. He has a great white bandage around his head and his beautiful face shows a few scratches. But still, his face has something peaceful. His chest lifts and lows in normal intervals and his heart bumps strong, what the machine next to this bed reveals.

They sit themselves down at the chairs and small armchairs standing around in the room. Then and there a small conversation rises up, but soon they fell into an comfortable silence again. Their best friend, colleague, mentor, and inspiration still breathes, so they just enjoy each other's company. Sheila was the first one to leave, she had to, because of her job. But since they know, that Harvey is fine now, she didn't feel that bad about leaving.

„I will go too and check on the firm. Somebody has to hold the fort. Louis, you are coming with me. The others can stay here, we will be back in a few hours." Jessica says, shortly squeezing Harvey's hand before leaving.

Louis wanted to protest, but he can understand Jessica's decision and feels proud to be the one to hold the fort with her.

„I..I'll grab myself a coffee..does anybody else wants one too?" Mike asks, after Jessica and Louis left.

„No, thank you Mike." Donna replies, giving him a soft smile.

„I'll come with you." Rachel states and stands up.

Rachel knows that Donna would have no problem with being alone with Harvey for a while, quite the opposite. She also knows, that it isn't easy for Mike either, since his parents died in a car accident, too. And she is pretty sure, that it brought up some dark memories of his childhood.

„Are you okay? I mean-" Rachel starts.

„Yes..I mean....of course it's not easy, but Harvey's gonna make it." Mike murmurs in response.

„If you wanna talk about it, I am here for you, always. You know that, right?" Rachel replies, slowly caressing his cheek.

„I know. Thank you. Do you know that I love you very much?" Mike says, smiling again.

„Yeah, well, I do hope so. We just bought a house in Seattle together." she states and leans in to kiss him.

„I love you too." she whispers under her breath.

„What do think you are doing, Harv?" Donna asks and laughs quietly. She had sat down on his bed, absently caressing his hand.

„You have to wake up, okay? Because I need you, too. More than you know." Donna whispers and looks at him.

She needs him more than she would ever care to admit, but he couldn't hear her anyways. She stayed in her position, until Mike and Rachel returned. They sat together for a while, talking about this and that, sipping their coffees. They all are more relaxed, now that they know that Harvey is going to be fine. It would all be fine soon.
