Amnesia

Chapter 5

The next morning Donna wakes up because of the sun light that's tickling her face. Carefully, she tries to stand up, realizing that her hand is intertwined with Harvey's.

„Good morning." a voice says, shocking Donna so much, that she jumps out of the armchair.

„Oh, Lily! Good morning." Donna murmurs, still a little confused.

„I am so sorry, I didn't mean to scare you like that." Lily explains, guilt washing over her face.

„No, no it's fine." Donnas replies, smiling at the older woman.

„Do you want a cup of coffee?" Lily asks then.

„Yeah, I'd love that, thanks." Donna answers thankfully.

Lily hands her the paper cup and Donna sits down at one of the chairs across from the bed. She automatically feels empty, already missing his fingers between hers. But since Lily is there, she doesn't act on any of it. Lily has already seen the hand holding and there is definitely no need in creating even more questions about her and Harvey's relationship.
Lily gives her a knowing smile, which Donna understands so, that Lily won't forget what she saw and that they are going to talk about it.

„They have to do a few tests soon and they asked me to leave the room, while they examine him." Lily explains, after a few minutes of silence.

Donna nods. She would rather stay, but the tests are more important than her own insecurities. She wants Harvey to be okay as soon as possible and when the doctors can figure something out of these tests, than that's what she is willing to do.

When the doctors enter the room, Lily and Donna leave them alone and sit down in front of Harvey's room.

„You know..Gordon once told me about you..he always said that you two were a perfect match." Lily says and a smile grows on her face, „he said that even back then you had put your spell on Harvey."

Donna can feel her cheeks blush and hopes that Lily doesn't see it. Donna has always liked Gordon, he was such a classy man, with such a good soul. She has seen him play once or twice and he nailed it. He has always been an inspiration to Harvey and she could very much understand why.

„Gordon was a good man. Harvey still misses him very much." Donna whispers, trying to distract from the subject.

„Yes, he definitely was. I miss him, too." Lily responds quietly.

Donna has known what a good soul Gordon was and that's why her opinion on Lily has always been very conflicted.

„Even though he forgave me for what I did, I still feel guilty for causing him so much pain sometimes." Lily confesses quietly.

Donna can see how much Lily regrets what she did and gives her an encouraging smile.

„I didn't know Gordon very well, but I am sure he didn't wanted you to feel bad for something that happened so long ago." Donna says.

Lily nods and smiles.

„He really doesn't know what he's missing. I hope he doesn't realizes it too late." Lily murmurs and looks Donna in the eyes.

Donna could see in her eyes that she isn't talking about Gordon anymore.

„Me too." she whispers in response, so quitely, that Lily almost hadn't heard it.

Then Mike and Rachel come and greet them.

„I've seen some really good croissants on my way in, do you want to grab some with me?" Rachel asks, turning to Donna.

„Yeah sure." Donna responds and stands up.

They pick up some of the croissants, talking about this and that. By the time they come back, Jessica had arrived and a few doctors are standing in front of Harvey's room.

„What's going on here?" Donnas asks, without even hiding the angst in her voice.

„Everything's fine. Harvey just woke up and they are just finishing a few tests. Then we can see him." Jessica explains the current state.

Donna breathes a sign of relief. Harvey just woke up. Everything is going to alright.

Half an hour later, the doctors came out of the room.

„Mr.Specter seems to fine. If you notice anything awkward in his behavior, please inform us. We still need to run some tests later, but now you have the change to talk to him for a bit. He especially asked for a Donna Paulsen." Mrs.Meyers says and gives the group a smile.

Donna blushes for the second time today and gives the doctor a thankful smile.

„Thank you." Mike responds and he opens the door to Harvey's room.

„Harvey..hey." Donna murmurs with a big grin. He seems to be just fine.

„You're so beautiful.." Harvey says, fixing his eyes on the woman that had just entered the room.

Jessica and Mike change a promising look. They both know very well that there is more between their two „friends" and they have always hoped that one day they would open their eyes and give these feelings a chance, but after all these years and all that has happened in the past few weeks, they hadn't expected this. Plus, Harvey is usually not that open. But maybe the accident did something to Harvey? Maybe he is finally ready to act on his feelings?
