Mother Blue

Chapter 6

Third POV — 8 years later — Lance 18
Lance jolted out of bed falling on the ground, his mind raced with the thoughts of his adoptive mother.

He wanted her by his side, he wanted to have her soothing presence, her gentle touch that allowed him to sleep peacefully.

Allura's voice came through the castle calling all the Paladins to breakfast. Lance didn't make any effort to get off the ground, he wasn't hungry and didn't feel like talking to people.

However, he was afraid of getting in trouble with the team, feeling their judgment on him. So with all his lacking energy, he got off the floor and made his way to the kitchen.

Upon entering the room everyone turns their heads to him but no one said anything. Hunk walked over to Lance with some goo.

"Hungry?"

Hunk asked knowing that Lance had a bad dream and may not be hungry. Lance often lost his appetite when thinking about his mum.

"...I miss mama." Lance said in a quiet voice, quiet enough that only Hunk head.
Hunk put the goo on the ground and wrapped his arms around the saddened Blue Paladin.

"I know babe~" The Yellow Paladin soothed as his boyfriend shed a tear. By the way, Lance and Hunk had been secretly dating for years now.

They walked over to the breakfast table after having a moment, Allura stood up and clapped her hands to get their attention. "Alright Paladins, today we are going to do team bonding."

Lance's heart sank, he didn't feel like opening up to people today. All he wanted to do was cry and hold the blue stuffed lion that Honerva made him when they left the hospital.

Lance always carries it with him. Always.

They all sat down on the floor and waited as Allura and Coran came into the room with little wristbands.

Lance and Hunk were obviously sitting beside each other, surprisingly Keith was next to Lance. Oh boy this is going to be fun.

"Everybody place these bands on, we are all going ask questions and it will say if you are lying." Coran spoke with his New Zealand like accent.

The Blue Paladin tensed and Hunk intertwined their hands to ease the anxious discomfort. Keith happened to be glancing at them and saw the exchange of love.

After everyone had been given a wristband it was time to begin. "Lance ma'boy you can go first." Lance looked around uncomfortably and gulped.

"C-can I...n-not?" Lances nervous voice stuttered and the room was silent until Lance met Shiro's eyes.

The Black Paladin showed a little bit of worry for his teammate but did budge. "Lance sorry but you have to do it, better to go first then last."

With a small nod the questions began.

Lance's POV
"Do you have a family?" Allura asked the first question. I answer yes because my adoptive mother was my family and so are the Garret's, well Hunk is my boyfriend but yeah. The bracelet stayed green.

Pidge was next to ask a question. "How much do you love your mother?" My biological mother, I didn't really know her but Honerva, she's the best.

"I love her so much, I also really miss her..." I hear Keith scoff and I start to feel tear threatening my ocean eyes, it's so painful to think about right now.

"Do you love anyone." Shiro spoke up and my heart flutters at the thought of Hunk, he is everything to me, my ray of sunshine in the darkness.

"Yes~" I reply as my cheeks flush with rosiness. I look at Hunk and smiles at me, his cheeks are also dusted with pink.

Pidge giggles in the corner, probably thinking that it is Allura. "And who might that be~" She is an absolute gremlin! Argh.

"Ummm...." I new there was no way of lying because they would be able to tell, so I slightly glance at Hunk and gives me a nod. "...Hunk."

"Ha! Nice one Lance, but we all know that it's Allura." Keith sounded so sure of of himself, oh how wrong he is.

"He's telling the truth, we've been together for almost 2 years now." Hunk backed me up and everyone's faces fell into bewilderment.

"...next question, do you have any mental disorders?" This time Coran asked the question to change topics. I can feel pulse rise rapidly. "...no."

The wristband turn red alerting them that I am lying. I feel myself beginning to cry at the pressure around me, I never wanted to do this in the first place.

I get up and throw the band on the ground, with tears starting to drip down my tan skin I run out of the room and back to the bed I have been longing for all day.
