Zayn's P.O.V

I put my phone on silent and stared at the floor with my head hanging. I wish I had payed attention to Louis when he had warned me about them, but I was too caught up in my own means to care about that.

"Everything alright, Zayn?" Harry spoke with concerned eyes.

"No." I spoke, getting up and approaching the door.

"Nothing's alright." I whispered.

"Bye, Harry." I said as I turned my head to look back at him, nearly convinced that this would be the last time I'd get to see him, this situation looking like nothing more but doom.

"B-Be careful, okay? I'll wait for you to come back..." He said, and for the first time, I felt like someone actually cared.

I gave him a small smile as I turned the knob and shut the door behind me.

I headed downstairs, remembering to keep the lights shut. Stepping over to the front door, I pushed the curtains back by an inch, and immediately noticed a tall man standing sideways, the blue light blinking on his earpiece making him noticeable in the dark.

I silently approached the back door, now seeing two in the backyard. Deciding that it wouldn't be safe for me to use those doors, I went back upstairs, making sure to put more of my weight on the wall, so that a small creak wouldn't give me away.

I let out a sigh of relief when I saw that the balcony was empty, figuring that I could slide down the pillar like a true batman, but took a step back when I saw the red outline of a camera's lens.

When did they put that there?! I mean how does it feel when your own house is too dangerous for you? I worked my mind into thinking of an idea to escape.

The tree beside one of the spare rooms came into my memory, the one that Liam and Louis climbed up from if they couldn't use the doors.

I silently went over to my last hope of an escape as I prayed to God that there was no one waiting for me outside. I slid the curtains and hooray! Finally an escape! I opened the window, hugging Doniya in my imagination for having them greased earlier, but knowing that the dry autumn leaves would be of no benefit to my goal.

I stretched one hand, keeping a firm grip on the branch, then went on with one leg, and when I was sure of it, I moved the rest of my body onto the tree. I used my foot to close the window. It was an advantage that this tree was on the side of the house. I still checked for men and cameras, and when satisfied, slowly creeped down to the ground.

I wasted no time in climbing the fences and mentally booing the Vipers for not keeping this escape in mind. I looked over the horizon, keeping in mind that sunrise isn't until about 7:30 am, which gave me plenty of time since it was 5:01 am at the moment.

Crossing a few more houses, I came to the end of the street, not surprised when a man and woman were stood on the edge of the road, camouflaged in the shadows.

"When do you think he'll come out?" The lady spoke, her accent clearly one of a foreigner. Well, what did I expect? They weren't from here after all. In fact, I was surprised they weren't talking in their own language.

"He's probably received the news from his pet rats. He must be crying his eyes out while begging for mercy." The man spoke, his accent more posh than the woman. I scoffed at his reply, they probably think I'm a nobody.
