Chapter 3

It's been four days since they've been gone but they should be heading back by tonight. Livia and Zane have been around each other every minute and it was rather cute. She's always giggling and he keeps a smile on his face. All they needed was a little push to get things going. The three of us were in the middle of washing off fruit and clothes while chatting. "You should really go they might need you", Livia told him.

"They'll be fine without me. Besides you're here." I smiled upon the young love, thinking if could have something similar to that. Bastian was the only person I've been with but even that fell off. Things weren't right or at least it didn't feel right. They just seemed to click naturally and made it look so easy. In no way am I trying to rush things because it's just not in my character. When the time comes for me to find that "someone" then it will happen but if it doesn't I'll still be completely fine.
Rayo, another elder here walked over to us. He barely showed his face to us. He wasn't exactly the friendliest person to talk to and he was nothing like Cthylla. We acknowledged him with a respectful bow and he grunted at us. "Shouldn't you be patrolling the area?"he spoke to Zae. Without a word Zae started to walk away. Livia looked almost in pain as she watched him leave. Rayo looked at us and it made me uncomfortable in so many ways. "Our men should be protecting us not cleaning off fruit. We leave that to the women we have more important jobs to handle. Next time this happens I will be more pressed about it." He turned and walked away.

"Excuse me?" Before I could say anything else my mouth was being covered by Livia. There was no way he could just talk to us like that and get say with it. He had some nerve saying that our job isn't important here. A woman is more than capable of doing anything a man can do. At this point I was beyond pissed and I refused to let a man talk down on women right to my face! When he was out of sight she moved her hand.

"Why did you do that?"

"Because I knew you were going to have something to say that was out of line. Amour your temper is bad and he's an elder." She tried to reason with me.

"That doesn't give him the right to disrespect us and every other woman here." She nodded in agreement but went back to washing off the fruit. The rest of the day was basically a blur, after our encounter with Rayo I couldn't think. It just didn't sit right with me and the next time something like this happens Livia won't be able to stop me.

           Just my luck he was joining us for dinner. Livia told me to behave but I wasn't keeping any promises. He sat next to Cthylla and they seemed to be in deep conversation, then a little one went up to them.

"Cthylla tell us a story." She just nodded her head while Rayo looked against it. Before she could talk they interrupted her. "Scary story!"

"Scary?" They all shook their heads rapidly and she sat a little taller. "Way before our time the Gods were in peace and harmony. But among that harmony was a soul that was full of hatred. They had to keep in line the son of Pelasgus, Lycaon. Lycaon angered the God Zeus when he served him a meal made from the remains of a sacrificed boy." The same smoke returned but in a deep red color. The image was of man giving a platter to who I am guessing was Zeus. "As punishment, the enraged Zeus turned Lycaon and his sons to come into wolves." The man that was once human transformed and it looked almost painful. It growled and nearly roared at the kids. They held onto each other and shook. "Having this curse passed down to the generations after him enraged him. No longer part of the gods but an animal of destruction." The smoke made multiple wolves and I could feel Livia shaking a little. The way they looked showed no remorse, only the want to cause harm. "They hid out in the mountains where no one could find them. Legend says that they have been gone for thousands of years." One wolf looked at me and growled. It's started walking on air towards me. "But after we are all gone." It leaped towards me." They will return." The smoke disappeared. Everything was silent as her and Rayo got up to leave. A adult finally decided to speak up.

"I think it's time to get some sleep." My brothers practically ran to me and begged for me to sleep with them. I couldn't turn them down, they looked scared half to death. Livia took my offer of sleeping in the hut with us for tonight. The story even had her a little on edge. I guess having the thought of a man being turned into a killing machine didn't sit well with them. But to me it sounded quite ridiculous. Some stories made no sense to me. We've come across wolves but to say that there are some bigger and more violent is a little much. I almost laughed at why everyone was so worried. Pushing the silly thoughts to the back of my head I let sleep take over my body.
