Levi's pov
"Levi get your gear on. You're going to the slums with me." Erwin says bursting into my room without knocking. "Care to knock next time?" "I don't have to knock. Outside in five minutes." Erwin closes the door and I get off of my bed. Why the hell are we going to the slums? I think to myself putting on my gear. After I have finished I meet Erwin outside. "Care to tell me why we're going to the slums?" I ask getting inside of a carriage. "And why are we taking a carriage?" Erwin sighs. "We've been instructed to retrieve a girl around the age of eighteen." A focused look forms on Erwins face. "Say Levi how old are you?" "Twenty. Now tell me more about this girl and why we're to retrieve her." "Ah yes. Y/n l/n. She's been known to steal several things from the military police like 3DMG gear, knifes, guns, and food. Her appearance is h/l h/c and e/c eyes." I look out the window and rub my temples. "Shouldn't the military police be taking care of this not us?" "I'm not wanting to turn the poor girl into jail. For all we know she could be like you." "I highly doubt that. Probably just some dirty scum."
After a few more minutes we arrive at a house in the underground city. "This is her current address. Levi you wait outside incase she tries to make a run for it." I nod my head as Erwin makes his way to the front door and knocks. I lean against the carriage. A small girl answers the door and Erwin bends down to her height. She looks maybe eight or ten. As Erwin speaks to her I watch her facial expressions. A few minutes of talking goes by and Erwin ruffles the girls hair then comes back to the carriage. "The girl says she's not here but I doubt it. There were two bowls on the table along with two cups of hot tea. We're going to wait here for a bit longer." We stand around the carriage for a few more minutes. There was a loud bang that came from the back of the house. "Erwin if I heard what I think I heard I'm sure that was her leaving." Erwin nods. "You stay here and keep an eye out and watch for that child. Don't let her pull any form of tricks." Erwin takes off with his gear and I lean against the carriage once again. At least it's less work I have to do.
The girl from earlier sticks her head outside the door. "Oi brat. What're you doing?" I call out walking up the stairs. She opens the door a bit more. "Are you gonna answer?" "You're with the bad man! You two are here to hurt us! Y/n said so!" The kid balls up her fists. "Listen here brat. We're not here to hurt anyone we're just doing our jobs." She scoffs and closes the door back. I sigh and run my fingers through my hair then walk back down the stairs. I sure don't miss this place at all. I pace back and forth waiting for Erwin to come back with the girl. This is such a waste of my time. I could be cleaning or something!
A loud thud knocks me out of my thoughts. Erwin has slammed the girl down on the ground in front of me. "She put up a much harder fight than you did." Erwin wipes sweat off of his forehead and puts his boot in the girls back so she doesn't run away again. She was rather small considering the age we had received for her was. I squat down in front of her and pick her face up in my hand. It's covered in dirt and blood. "Disgusting." I say focusing on the dirt. The girl spits on me. "Thanks for the compliment." She says sarcastically. "Now now pretty girls like yourself ought to have manners. Don't you think so?" She tries to move her face out of my hand but I tighten my grip. I wipe the spit off with my free hand and squeeze her jaw harder. "Manners isn't something you learn here." "Care to tell us why you're stealing such important things from the military police?" Her eyebrows furrow together. Thinking up a lie I assume. "Since when did a few loaves of bread and some meat become so important?" A smirk appears on my thin lips. "So you didn't steal the gear you have on now? Or the knife that sticking out of your left boot?" A scowl forms on her face. "You wouldn't understand what it's like to live down here. Especially when someone else is depending on you for everything!" I assume the other girl in the house is somehow related to her. "How pathetic to think you can keep someone else alive when you can barely keep yourself alive." I let go of her face and watch it fall to the ground. "Fuck you." She mumbles. "If you're going to speak speak clearly brat." "Fuck you!" She yells.
The girl from earlier runs outside. "Y/n!" She makes it down the stairs and to Erwin. "Julia go back inside now."Your pov
"Julia go back inside now." I shift my head to look at my little sister. "Y/n I want to-" She holds her hands up. "I said go back inside! I don't want you out here right now! This isn't something you need to see!" I yell at her. "But I-" Julia lowers her arms to her sides. "Please Jules. Just go back for now. I'll be there in a few minutes." My voice cracks and is filled with sorrow knowing that I most likely won't be back. "I-" "Julie Rose l/n if you don't get your ass back inside that damn house this instance!" I yell more angrily. I didn't want her to see this kind of stuff at a young age. Julia slowly nodded and retreated back inside. I knew she was going to watch from the window like always. "Listen here kid. I'm going to take my boot away from your back cause I see her watching from the window. If you try to make a run for it she'll be forced to watch the same thing you did at her age." I gulp and nod my head. The blonde man removes his boot and steps in front of me. I quickly sit up and stay seated on the ground. "I'm Erwin Smith leader of the survey Corp and this is Levi Ackerman." Erwin points to Levi then crosses his arms. Damn I already hate Levi. "Now that we've introduced ourselves it's time we speak about your future." I nod my head. "You can either join the survey Corp and avoid the military police or be sent to jail for your crimes."
"I don't care about my future. What will happen to Julia?" I slowly stand up with my arms out accepting defeat. "I assume she'll be sent to live with a relative." Levi sarcastically remarks causing us to exchange glares. "I'm all she has left. I have been for a while now." Erwins stone cold facial expression softens a little showing a small gesture of sympathy. "We'll just leave her here then." I glare once again at Levi. "I don't think you're the one who calls the shots ass." I look back over to Erwin and see a small smile on his lips. "Please Erwin Julia can't fend for herself here. She'll be dead within the next hour if I leave considering all the things I've gotten into!" I wasn't one to beg for things but this was my little sister Julia. I love her. "I'll join the survey Corp if you let me bring her. Please.." I couldn't bear the thought of losing my only family member. "I suppose we could keep her around HQ until she's old enough to train." A smile finds it's way to my expressionless face. "Thank you."
I turn around and motion for Julia to come outside. She quickly runs down the stairs almost tripping and hugs my legs. "Y/n what's going on?" She asks looking up at me with curiosity filled eyes. I bend down to her level which wasn't that far considering I was incredibly short. I put my hands on her shoulders and try my best to smile. "Jules we're gonna go away for a bit." I rub her shoulders softly. "Why? I like it here y/n.." "I know you do but you see Jules I got into a bit of trouble again. We have to go away with Erwin and Levi so I won't be in trouble anymore. You understand?" Julia pouts. "Why can't we just run away like we always do?!" "It's time to stop running away. It's not safe here anymore. Ok?" Julia nods and smiles. "If my big sister says it isn't safe here anymore then I believe her!" I stand up and ruffle her hair then look at Erwin and Levi. "Shall we get going now?" Erwin motions to the carriage and opens the door. He gets in then I help Julia in. The door closes and it's just me and Levi outside. "The dirt on you face is bothering me." He pulls out a handkerchief and begins to wipe my face. I notice his futures. Levi has stunning steal colored eyes and he's a few inches taller than me. He's cute. Too bad he's an asshole. "Just because I'm wiping dirt off your face doesn't mean I like you." He folds back up the handkerchief and puts it in his pocket. "I'm glad the feeling is mutual." I get into the carriage with Levi following me. One thought finds its way into my brain. Are these the people that took Ezra and Mia?
