~flashback~

There was a knock on the door. Ezra peers out the window careful not the be spotted. "It's the survey Corp." He closes the curtains slowly and backs away. "Y/n you and Julia hide. Leave this to Mia and me." Ezra paces for a few seconds then stops. "Y/n you heard him! Go and take Julia to the attic." Mia looks back at me. I nod knowing the drill and grab Julia then head up to the attic. "Y/n what're we doing?" Julia asks sitting down on a box. "We're hiding. Now be quiet ok?" She nods. I look down through a hole in the ceiling. Ezra opens the door while Mia sits on the table reading a book. They had taken me and Julia in last year. Me, Mia, and Ezra would pull of several heists and murders to keep ourselves alive. The four of us had grown rather close.  "You two can either give up the location of the third one and we can all go in peace or we will tear this house to pieces looking for the other one." A man with brown hair says. "It's only us two." Ezra says leaning against the table beside Mia. The man looks upwards and I quickly pull my head out of the hole and back up against a wall.

I hear muffled speaking for a few minutes then there's loud footsteps going outside. I look outside of the window just a little to see Ezra and Mia running with people chasing them. "Where's Ez and Mia going?" Julia asks looking outside the window with me. "I'm not sure Jules..but we're gonna stay up here for a while." She nods and puts her head in my lap while I continue to watch from the window. The men had caught them and were loading them into a carriage. Damn..it's just me and Julia now.. I look down at her and see that she is slowly nodding off to sleep. I will protect her with everything I have.

This was only six months ago.
~end of flashback~

"Oi brat! Don't touch the glass you'll get fingerprints all over it!" Levi yells at Julia causing her to retreat back to my lap and hide her face in my chest. "It's her first time out of there you know. She's a child she can't help but be curious." I say harshly towards Levi. Julia turns around and sticks her tongue out at him. "She's fine Levi. They're just fingerprints." Erwin smiles at Julia. (Sorry but I imagine Erwin being a total softie when it comes to kids) "You're more than welcome to look out the window Julia." She gets up from my lap and sits beside Erwin pressing her face against the glass. "Look y/n there's real horses! They're not just pictures!" Julia points to a several horse passing by. "How about you count how many horse you see? I bet you'll see more than five!" I pat her knee gently since she was right across from me. "You really think we'll see more than five?" She smiles greatly. "I do. Now keep an eye out for them or you'll miss them." Julia presses her face against the glass again. This earns a a glare from Levi.

"Don't you think it's rather rude to glare at a child?" I ask looking at him tilting my head. He has some nerve to glare at Jules! She's eight! "Not really. She's causing a mess." I cross my legs and shift my body towards Levi. "You might think you'll scare me by acting all big and tough but you're wrong. Nothing scares me that much anymore." I whisper in his ear smirking. He turns his head towards me only a few inches away from my face. "I didn't plan on trying to scare you. I don't waste my time on people like you." "As do I." I lean against the carriage wall and watch Erwin and Julia count horses.

~time skip~

We arrive at a stone building and the carriage doors open. Julia hops out and tries her best to help me out. "Thanks Jules." She smiles and grabs hold of my hand. Erwin and Levi get out of the carriage. "If you'll follow me y/n I'll explain how things will work around here." Before I can answer a women with brown hair and glasses runs out of the building. "Is that a child? Oh my god! Let me hold her!" The woman is stopped by Erwin. "I think it's best if you introduce yourself first Hange." "Oh yes!" She pushes past Erwin and holds out her hand to me.  "I'm Hange Zoë!" I shake her hand. "I'm y/n l/n and-" "I'm Julia l/n!" Julia shakes Hanges hand as she squats down in front of her. "Hange would you care to look after Julia while we speak with y/n?" Erwin asks looking at me for approval. "I would love to!" Julia looks up at me with a hopeful smile. "That's fine. Julia behave yourself ok?" She nods and Hange picks her up carrying her back inside. "You let shitty glasses watch a child?" Levis remark causes me to give Erwin a concerned look. "She'll be ok right?" Erwin laughs a little and puts an arm around my shoulder. "Yes. Julia will be fine."

The three of us walk into the building and down a few halls. Then into an office that I assume is Erwins. "Take a seat y/n." I sit in the chair Erwin pointed to. He sits at a desk while Levi stands beside him. "Now y/n you'll have to revive a few weeks of training before we even think about sending you outside the walls." I lean forward and rest my elbows on the desk. "Understandable." Erwin glances at Levi quickly. "Levi will be training you." I open my mouth to say something but Levi beats me to it. "No! There is no way-" "Levi it's an order." Levi huffs and crosses his arms. "After you've finished training you'll be expected to participate in expeditions outside the walls." I take my elbows of the desk and lean back in my chair. "Say I don't come back from one of these expeditions. What happens to Julia?" Erwin smiles a little. "I admire you're concern for your sister y/n even when you're life is in danger she's always your priority. It's a very good trait you have. I'm sure it will be of use to us." I run my hand through my hair. "Julia will always be my first priority." I make sure to make eye contact with Erwin and hold it. "Now answer my question." "She'll remain her with us until she's old enough to train." "And if she doesn't want to be a soldier?" Erwin nods his head slowly. "We won't force anything upon her."

"Thank you." "You're free to go y/n. You're training will start tomorrow. Levi show y/n to her room." Levi rolls his eyes and starts to walk out of the office. "Let's go brat." I sigh and stand up from my chair then follow Levi. We walk in silence down halls filled with soldiers.  "Smile. You'd look a lot prettier if you did." A man with chestnut hair says to me putting his hand on my shoulder. I turn around and smack his hand away. I then grab hold of his neck and push him against the wall squeezing his neck lightly. He started to gasp for air. "You don't smile after the shit I've been through." I notice the man has green eyes and freckles. I let go of him and he falls to the ground. "Y/n?" I look to my side and see a familiar blonde with blue eyes. "Ezra?"
