I know that Shmidt is Ares based on his determination to be a god this new world has ever seen. The layout of the bunker is a bit strange for me to navigate, but I manage my way through. I round a corner and hear voices grow louder the closer I get.
"What made you so special?" A man asks
"Nothing..." I hear Steve start. "I'm just a kid from Brooklyn." I understand the impact of a fist hitting a face over and over again. "I can do this all day."
"I bet you can. Take him away." I wait for a beat or two before I know he's alone. My footsteps pound on the pavement as walk into the room.
"Ah, how lovely it is to see you in person, my dear, but unfortunately I have other matters to deal with." He pulls a gun and takes a shot at me that I deflect back with my gauntlets. He cries in surprise. "What are you?" His gaze cuts to my eyes.
"You will soon find out." I twist the Godkiller in my hand, approaching him, and our dance of death begins. Only one of us will survive. He grabs this blue cube from its mantel and retreats outside. I follow suit. "I am Diana of Themyscira, Daughter of Hippolyta, Queen of the Amazon, and your wrath upon this world is over." I use the Lasso of Hestia and pull him toward me on the ground. "In the name of all that is good, I hereby complete the Amazon mission by ridding the world of you forever!" I lift the Godkiller in my hands I strike down on Schmidt. I insert it in his shoulder. He grunts collecting the Tesseract in his hand. I pull the Godkiller out when a beam from space strike down and Ares is gone. I take a deep breath because I realize that it's all over, Ares is dead and the war will stop. I look over at the Tesseract and realized that the Tesseract is one of the six Infinity Stones that my mother used to tell me about. I hid it quickly because I know other people would be tempted, but the power it brings. I look around me and notice that all around me people are still preparing for battle, much to my horror.
"Diana!" I hear Steve call out from behind me. "Diana?" Steve's hands find my arms.
"I killed him," I state. "I killed Ares, but nothing has stopped. You kill the God of War you stop the war!"
"That's exactly what we have to do now. We need to stop the gas come on." He starts to move away from me, but I grab his arm.
"No all of this should have stopped." He says my name. "The fighting should have stopped. Why are they doing this!"
"I don't know!" He brings his hands up to his face.
"Ares is dead. They can stop fighting now. Why are they still fighting?
"Because maybe that's them!" He quiets a moment before continuing. "Maybe people aren't always good. Ares or no Ares." I shake my head in denial. "Maybe it's just who they are. Diana, we can talk about this later." I move away from him, but he follows suit.
