VALERIA'S P.O.V:

I caught the knife between two fingers, directly on the blade. It was a hairs breadth away from right between my eyes, almost hitting it's mark. I observed the blade absentmindedly, it was  elegantly carved, jagged near the end on one side, with a thin scratch along the middle of it, which was interesting. The handle was made of wood, with golden claw marks all over it. Once I had finished my observation of the knife, I looked up from it and met the amber eyes of Alpha Rocan. He didn't seem surprised that I had caught a knife flying at my face at what must have been at least 80 miles per hour. On the contrary, the Alpha seemed both relieved and delighted.  I raised one eyebrow at him, silently asking him one question: "Why?"

"I had to make sure you all were really the Silent Assassins." He explained."No one new who your identities were, so you really could have been anybody."

"A fair concern" I responded, not breaking eye contact as I spoke "But wouldn't it have been slightly wiser to wait until the training began? Then, if we really weren't who we say we are, we would be deathly embarrassed, which is an accurate punishment, and, you wouldn't have a murder on your hands, as that knife would have gone straight through my head, had I not been who I am." I pointed out calmly.

Alpha Rocan thought over my response before saying: "I suppose, but I would have also looked like a fool if I had not tested you beforehand, and then you all turning out to be fake."

I tipped my head thoughtfully, He cares about his appearance to the public a lot, it seems. I wonder, to what lengths will he go to keep a proper appearance up? I thought. "As I'm sure you can tell, we will need to take a separate car." I began. But Alya interrupted me "With all due respect Alpha Rocan, how do we know you won't randomly decide to "test us" again?!" she burst out, crossing her arms and glaring right at the Alpha standing if front of us. Victoria stepped in as well, "Agreed. We could handle you obviously, there's four of us, and even against your, " she tipped her ears towards the woods surrounding the house "I'm going to guess, about 10 to 20 warriors, we could still handle you all properly, trust me on that." Alpha Rocan looked surprised, he raised his eyebrows at me, clearly expecting me to chastise them for the blatant disrespect. I simply gave him a small smile, telling him that they needed to say their piece, and I was going to let them.

Once Victoria and Alya had finished putting their two cents in, they waited for Alpha Rocan's response. "There is no proof I can give you other than my word." he began. "And I give you my word that neither I, nor any of my warriors, will harm a hair on your head, unless of course, you harm a hair on mine" he assured. I glanced at V and Alya, making sure they were satisfied with Alpha Rocan's answer before turning back to face him. "Alright," I said "We'll need to take separate cars, obviously, so just let us throw our stuff in the trunk of our car and we'll be on our way." Alpha Rocan thought over my proposal before giving me a curt nod and stepping into his gray Rolls-Royce.

I turned sharply on my heel and stepped back inside to grab my bag, my senses telling me my Assassins were following along behind me. Once we were out of earshot from Alpha Rocan, the predicted outbursts began. "How dare he?!" Alya began "He can't just go around throwing knifes at people! And for that matter, who would pretend to be us in the first place?! No one has the guts!" I thought over her statement. She has a point, who would dare to pretend to be us? The answer to that? No one.

"Agreed. He may think he's high and mighty, but he better get that ego of his in check before we train any of his warriors. He needs to remember who he's dealing with." Victoria growled. I put two open hands up, effectively shutting them up. "I don't care about him. He is an Alpha, and he had his reasons. However," I added "If he dares try something like that again, I give you full permission to retaliate in whatever way you see fit." All three of them stood tall, nodding curtly upon receiving their orders.

We all grabbed our bags and threw them into the Alya's car, a black BMW. I turned back to face Alpha Rocan, who had stepped out of his car momentarily to discuss what our plan was until we got to his territory. "You will follow us until we get to the border, then you can take the lead as we cross into your territory, agreed?" I asked. The Alpha gave me a curt nod then turned sharply and climbed back into his car. I turned back to my Silent Assassins. "Alright, who's driving first?" Victoria asked. "I will!" Hailee volunteered, then darted into the driver's seat before any of us could protest. V shrugged at us, then climbed into the passenger seat. I slid into the back seat behind V, and Alya sat next to me behind Hailee. We pulled out of the driveway, and, after making sure Alpha Rocan was following along behind us, made our way to the border. I leaned back in my seat, relaxed and calm.

So why did I have a feeling something was waiting for me at the Ice Dagger pack?
