"Elise Christine D'Angelo, do you know what time it is?" My mother screams from the top of the steps.

It's 6 am and my mom feels the need to scream at the top of her lungs. I was supposed to wake up thirty minutes ago to get ready for my "big day," as my mother puts it. I am moving into college today and this is the first time that I will be living on my own. I can't wait because my family is driving me insane!

"Alright! I'm getting up, gosh!" I yell frustrated, by the fact that her voice probably woke up the whole neighborhood. I hoist myself out of bed; get ready, and head to the kitchen.

"I would have made you breakfast but since you did not wake up when I told you to, make yourself some cereal!" my mother screeches, pushing a bowl towards me and pointing to the variety of cereals.

I make my cereal and my older sister Maria comes in talking on the phone with her boyfriend, Jerome. Why my sister feels the need to call him this early is beyond me, but she says they're "in deep" with each other. Apparently, she met him while studying abroad in Rome last year. He goes to NYU and majors in acting. I met him once, he's nice but he definitely thinks too highly of himself.

My sister, on the other hand, is a senior at USC. She's an environmental science major or something along those lines. She's parttime vegan and upcycles everything. Anyway, after my sister gets off the phone and I finish breakfast; we load my suitcases into the van and proceed to the airport.

I decided to go to school in Massachusetts. I figured it's far from home and maybe I can learn how to adapt to real climate change. Plus, my school has a fantastic English program that I am really looking forward to. I am flying there by myself, which is pretty scary but I am ready to start fresh!

**This chapter is very short. I Promise the other chapters are longer! I plan on making a character list soon. Would you prefer celebrity character photos or none? Let me know :D**
