Elise D'Angelo always knew she wanted to go to college as far away as possible. When this California native starts her freshman year at school in Massachusetts, she's in for a crazy ride. New friends, parties, and a hot upperclassman with an ex-girl...
Thirsty Thursday...aka the excuse for any college student to get hammered. Here we are about to go to our very first college party. Rebe is hogging the door mirror to apply "generous" amounts of makeup and straightening her already perfect hair. It's only been a few days and I'm already tired of this girl.
She's nice but cares way too much about her appearance. Gemma and I made a quick run to the on-campus Starbucks for much needed Frappucinos. Gemma is really cool the more I get to know her. She's sassy but she makes life entertaining.
"Guys, should I wear my black heels or my pink wedges?" Rebe asks while applying more makeup.
"Wedges! They're cute and they'll be more comfortable for dancing." Gemma says while rummaging through her dresser for a pair of pants.
I settle on denim cutoff shorts and a short sleeve black v-neck, paired with a heart pendant necklace and rose-gold sandals. It's boring but comfortable. Gemma has on a colorful sundress that makes her tan skin radiate and Rebe has on her pink wedges and an embellished black body-con dress. Ready, set, party...
...
It's midnight and I can't find Gemma or Rebe anywhere. The music is thumping through Tim/plant boy's house and I'm standing here awkwardly in the kitchen with a red solo cup filled with soda. I think I am the only sober person left in this house of misfits. An hour ago, Rebe wandered off with plant boy to an undisclosed location and Gemma went to find a bathroom.
I decide to go out on the back porch and get some fresh non-alcoholic air. I see a group of semi-naked students are outside swimming in the pool laughing and chatting, as I sit on the steps. I feel so out of place but if I could leave I would.
I hear the glass sliding door open and a few really good-looking guys stumble out, almost crashing into me.
"Oh shit! Sorry about that! I totally didn't see you there." One of the guys exclaims.
I turn around to look at him and realize it's the guy from the other day. You know the one with the really nice hair and Ray-Ban sunglasses.
"Um, it's alright..." I say feeling myself blush.
"Yo! There's Jax, Ava, and Tess! You coming, dude?" A guy with sandy blond hair asks, bugged eyed and tipsy.
"Nah, I'll catch up with you later." The boy I met earlier says, taking a seat next to me. The other boys sprint over to the pool and jump in clothes and all.
"Hey, my name's Grant, I realized I never introduced myself before," He says extending a hand, smiling at me.
"I'm Elise, nice to meet you," I say shaking his hand, feeling like a dumbstruck teenager.
Grant takes a sip on his beer and looks at me smirking.
"So, I can tell you're really enjoying this party," He laughs.
I shift my weight so my butt doesn't go numb.
"Yeah it's so much fun, I'm having a blast!" I say sarcastically and laugh.
Grant looks at me and chuckles.
"So where are you from, frosh?" He asks, taking another sip of beer.
"San Diego, CA!" I say staring at people swimming in the pool.
"Wow! You traveled a long way from home! What's your major?" Grant asks, placing his beer down.
"English, and yourself? Where are you from?" I ask, trying not to seem too eager. "Communications with a minor in Spanish. I'm from Connecticut." He states, smiling.
He's about to say something else when he gets interrupted.
"Grant! Babe, there you are! Omg! I've been looking for you everywhere!" A very drunk girl exclaims coming onto the porch with a very drunk Rebe.
The drunk girl attempts to hug Grant and gives me a dirty look.
"Who the hell are you?" She asks staring at me.
Rebe interjects slurring slightly, "Omg! Elise! You look so pretty! Where's Gem Gem?"
"I don't know but we should probably get going soon. You're drunk." I say, giving her a concerned look... Grants get annoyed at the girl for being drunk and bitchy and our short conversation ends.
...
As Rebe and I search for Gemma, Rebe goes on and on about how awesome Ava (bitchy drunk girl) is and how she's is going pledge the hottest sorority on campus. As we make our way towards the front of the house, we spot Gemma pushed up against a wall making out with some guy, who about 6'5 and looks like a younger version of Jason Momoa.
Rebe and I stare for a moment in disbelief, trying to register how Gemma met such a sexy beast. Instead of disrupting her intense make out sesh, I text her to meet us outside the Hub when she's ready. As we're leaving, I spot Grant and Ava arguing in the kitchen. We suddenly lock eyes briefly before Ava shoves him and walks away.
What was that all about? Thinking to myself, once Rebe and I are outside. Tim aka plant boy's house is only a half a block away from school. His parents travel a lot for work, so he's got access to a big house and no rules.
"Well, Gem's clearly not coming back to the room tonight," Rebe giggles almost tripping over a crack in the driveway.
"Maybe but she should text us if she's not. Anyone can be a serial killer!" I exclaim giving Rebe a serious look, making her giggle even more.
...
When we reach the Hub, it's almost midnight. The Hub closes at 1 am during the week, so we rush inside and find a seat.
"OHH! Cheese fries!!!," Rebe shouts standing up abruptly and runs to the hot bar. I chuckle, watching her and rest my head against the cold table.
"Hey, Frosh! Omg fancy seeing you here!" Sloan exclaims sarcastically, poking me in the head.
When I look up, I see that her multicolored hair is curly and she wearing a Kiss band tee with red metallic Doc Martins.
"Oh hey! What're you doing here?" I ask curiously.
"Late night burritos, bro! No seriously, Rider and I went to this lame ass party down the street for like 10 mins. Drunk kids and terrible music #badvibes. I can't." She scuffs rolling her eyes, leaning on her boyfriend, Rider, who strokes her hair.
He's average build with a T-rex tattoo on his left forearm and has bleached shoulder length hair.
"Yes, I just came back from there with my roommate. This is my roommate, Rebe, by the way." I say pointing to Rebe, who not only has cheese fries but four snack size bags of Flamin' Hot Cheetos.
She starts dipping her Cheetos in the cheese sauce and I'm a little horrified.
"Oh, hey..." Sloan says deadpan, clearly not interested.
"Well, we're gonna bail. See ya in English, Frosh-El." Sloan says walking away quickly with boyfriend in tow.
I lay my head back down waiting for the night to end and for Rebe to stop dunking her hot Cheetos in canned cheese product. #Ew.
