My brain fumbles over the math equation in front of me. I search around the room as I try to see if anyone else was struggling with this test as much as I was. It seemed like all of the other students were too focused on the problems to really show any fear. My heart was shaking in my chest, vibrating off my rib cage as I look at the next few questions. I cursed myself for not studying harder for this test. I was too focused on my eleven page paper and the trials.
Speaking of the trials, I hadn't seen Ailis all day. He seemed like he was always missing searching for gold. I wondered if I had any necklaces I could give him. Maybe there was something that would provide him with more magic hidden in my room somewhere. I made a mental note to check the next time I was at my mother's house. I needed this magic because I needed to get Miles back. My mother needed to be happy again and I had to figure out how I was going to do that.
I shook my head trying to focus up on the test in front of me. I only had like fifteen more minutes before I needed to hand it in. I was beginning to panic that I wasn't going to be able to finish this test. My first math test of the semester and I was going to fail it.
I struggle to get my pencil to move on the paper as others seemed to just breeze through it. Some students have even finished, handed in their tests and now they were off galavanting with friends or whatever they did in their free time. I envy those students. I wanted to be off wandering the real world instead of in here trying to figure out what was going on. The problems seemed to get harder but I did my best to muddle my way through them. Once I had an answer down on every single one of them I decided it was time to just give up. I walk the test to the front of the class placing it face down on the desk before heading out of the room. I let a breath of relief escape my lips as I entered the hallway. Most students were in their classes so they were pretty empty.
My shoes echo against the tile as I head towards the parking lot. I was going to swing by my mother's house to check for any jewelry. I wondered if she would be home. It didn't take long for me to reach my car once I was in the parking lot. My feet seemed to fumble against the ground as they knew the route by now.
The day had been cool enough that Ailis decided to just hang out in my car instead of coming into class with me. He was tired of listening to my teacher drone on and one about useless stuff while he was trying to do his very own school work. I couldn't blame him. That was like double school and with how strict his teachers were I'm sure it wasn't easy.
Once I was in the driver's seat I quickly start the engine and place the car in reverse. Backing out of the parking spot I head down the road heading towards the busy highway. It wouldn't take me long to get home from here. I just needed to get through the dangerous busy college roads. Too many young kids who weren't the best at driving all rushing around.
Ailis shakes his head as he jumps up onto the seat peeking out the window. He seemed to like watching the world rush by as we drove. I couldn't help but smile every time I glanced over at him. He seemed so content in his life. Not a single worry in the world as he watches the pastures of wild green grass flow past us.
