[Title/Lyric Variation from 'September' by Marianas Trench]
[A/N] Okay, so if you hadn't noticed this story moves a bit slow... I don't necessarily intend to make it that way, but then again the way I had originally planned the plot I felt this would be necessary. BUT, I do realize it might be a bit TOO slow moving, so I'll try to make it move a little faster, so don't worry, it'll pick up!
I got jerked awake by a firm hand on my knee. Drowsy, I blinked my eyes open to Dan's Face, stern and not entirely happy. I looked around – outside it had gotten dark, but everyone was still in the same position as when I fell asleep. But, yet, they all wore expressions like Dan's. I narrowed my eyes in confusion before I noticed an addition to the room, standing in front of the curtain with an angry air around his head. I turned my head and blinked to see Josh, an annoyed and worn look on his face, his eyes boring down on me.
'Oh...' I mumbled. He must be finally done with his phone call...
Josh strode up to me until he was looking straight down on me. As quick as he could, Dan pushed my legs down and Chris shuffled away, forcing me to sit up straight and look into his Cadet-Blue Eyes.
'Are you fucking kidding me?' I gave him an inquisitive look.
'Did it look like I was?'
'You had no right to interrupt my phone call–'
'Just like she had no right to intrude on my headache.'
'And then have the gall to insult my girlfriend–' I glared up at him.
'My words always have a reason behind them.' It was clear that Josh was ignoring all my retaliations to his rant, not even stopping to listen to what I had to say.
'She had a fucking field day with me–'
'Oh, I bet she has loads of times.'
'Did you know that she is extremely sensitive to that kind of stuff? It's a long distance relationship for half of the year and then you just waltz in and call her a desperate bitch!'
'I was only saying the truth. She called for it – hell, she pretty much begged for it.' I spat at him, hoping that this would catch his attention. And just like I had expected, it did.
'I had to...' he faltered for a second, causing a glint to flash in my eye. I raised my eyebrow and smirked a bit. If I was going to bit down, I might as well bite down hard.
'You had to what? Coax her out of her 'state' for twenty minutes, and for what? A new fancy necklace for her? Or, ooh, maybe a day out in New York! Spoiler Alert: The place isn't as magical as you want to think.' I leaned back, keeping my eyes on Josh and trying not to break out into a smile. It was hard, making him hate me, when I knew just what he was going to do or say. Unlike him, I remembered my arguments and conversations with him. One thing that hadn't changed, was how he got when he got flustered.
Josh crouched down to my eye level, eyes narrowed and wearing a stone expression. It was one of those faces that made it impossible for me to guess what he was thinking. I braced myself for him to yell at me, already thinking of snarky responses. He tilted his head a bit and leaned forward.
'Are... Are you sure I don't know you?'
I froze, feeling myself immediately tense up, my eyes widening a bit.
What are you doing? You're supposed to be yelling at me, not asking me if you know me again!
I opened my mouth to say something but found that once again my throat was dry. Why did he ask that? He'd forgotten me a long time ago, I had proof of that from earlier today... So why was he acting like there was a possibility that he did? It was a sick thing and he had to be joking... He had to be joking, right?
