[A/N] Surprise!
So I know that the last update I said I was going to Maine for a short week and wasn't going to be able to update, but as it turns out the people I was going with cancelled the plans at last minute, and so I ended up not going... But now you get some new updates, yay! Yesterday and stuff I was contemplating whether or not I should post this, but I then stayed up the whole night, and currently haven't slept in 21 hours and I'm doing anything to stay awake to regulate my sleeping, soo... I decided to say screw it. Anyway, I think you'll like this chapter, it's quite long and ends in a... way that I hope you like! Haha, Enjoy! xx - CC
I strummed my way along my guitar's fretboard near-fluently, looking out onto the road. I was sitting in the driver's space, Sam next to me in his usual seat. It's been a few days since that unforgettable confrontation I had with Josh, and it has been basic hell.
In the beginning, since he was now sure he knew me, Josh was a cocky son-of-a-bitch. He wouldn't take his eyes off of me, scaring me out of my mind and making me nervous. It was freaky, turning to see my childhood friend/first love looking at me with a smirk that said, 'I'm this much closer to finding out your little secret.' It was even scarier, knowing that if he found that 'little secret' out, my whole life that I had built around it would come crumbling down. Every morning if the guys were still on the bus, I would overhear some sort of 'Mate, get over it,' followed by a 'but I know her!' Every morning, my fear that Josh had figured it out would also increase.
But Josh had lately been shying away from his original know-it-all smirk to me, not paying as much interest and stopping the smart looks he gave me. And, in a way, I've learned to live with the whole thing. I've simply tried to ignore Josh as much as possible, focusing on my guitar and taking the singing part of my upcoming performance into my own hands. I had straight up refused spending more than five minutes alone with him for anything, even if his interest in me was dying down a bit. The guys were getting worried, nonetheless -- My first performance was in two days, and none of them had really heard me sing.
It was about 9:30 P.M., and Sam and I have been sitting in the parked tour bus, waiting for You Me At Six to get through their performance. We did pretty well with keeping ourselves entertained; I Skyped Sofie and Travis; Sam tried (and failed) to play my oboe with an old wrecked reed; and we tried seeing how far back in the tour bus we could go and catch food thrown from the front. But sometimes boredom overtook us, and we had to get creative inside the walls of the bus. Once we tried playing hide and seek, under-compartments allowed; another time we tried seeing how many Soda cans we could fit in Max's bunk. The list went on, but now we were fresh out of ideas, just sitting in front of the parked truck. I was going through chords on the guitar, and he was practicing tattoo ideas. I looked over to his concentrated face and smirked.
'Where's that one even gonna go?' I laughed, 'I mean, I don't see a place available.' He shook his head, grinning.
'I've got a few places left!' He put his book down and stood up, taking his t-shirt off and spreading his arms out, showing a breath-taking full-body design.
Almost everything on Sam's torso was black, white, and grey, but the farther away it got from his chest, the more color the tattoo had. This made the tips of his fingers and the nape of his neck the most colorful points. If Sam stood completely straight and bare, it would make an illusion that he was being slowly eaten by a colorful fire. His legs, though, weren't as heavily designed... If anything, they just looked as though color put a light taint on them. I raised an eyebrow at him – even though the design was amazing, I couldn't find a spot on his body that was clear, aside from his face and the front of his neck.
