Manik and Nandini were the pieces of the same puzzle. They just needed to be fixed together in the right place to complete the picture perfect.
They enjoyed each others company and looked forward to spend time with each other. They weren't inseparable but loved the time spent together. They wanted to live each and every moment and cherish what the two possessed. They didn't need the label of the L word to justify their relationship.
They knew what they had between them.
The base of their relationship was friendship and they loved it. They were first friends and then two people in a relationship. It just made things easier.
After two years of dating they had grown closer and mature, still the sparks in the relationship lived.
The two planned on a date night at Manik's house.
The bell rang and Manik rushed to open the door.
As soon as he saw Nandini his face lit up. She tip toed upwards to reach his height but Manik was in a mood for a mischief.
He stood up on his toes making it impossible for Nandini to reach him.
She pouted angrily making Manik laugh. "Monster!" She groaned in irritation and pushed him aside, entering the house.
She harshly threw her purse on the table making Manik known of her bubbling anger.
She already had a hectic day in her college and planned to spend a blissful night with Manik, but here he was busy being a jerk.
She shook her head in disbelief and went to change into her comfy clothing, Manik's hoodie.
There was nothing fancy about their dates. They both hated the formalities and awkward conversations. The fancy restaurant and the clothing were tiring as hell and a waste of time, they both believed.
They loved spending date nights at home watching movies, playing games or just talking about their whereabouts. Both were at the peak level of their career and studies and could hardly take out time for each other but when they did, they made up for the loss.
"Khane main kya bana hai?" Nandini peeked into the kitchen looking like a cute teddy in his over sized clothes.
Manik chuckled at his thoughts making Nandini pout.
"Itni hassi kyun aa rahi hai aaj? Jaldi yeh jab khatm karo bhuk lagi hai mujhe. Phir ghar bhi jana hai." She narrowed her eyes at him.
"You aren't staying?" Now it was Manik's turn to be sad.
Nandini smirked before replying, "Why would I want to stay at a boyfriend's house who doesn't even misses me?"
"Who said I didn't missed you?" Manik scrunched up his face in confusion while stirring the curry.
"Why didn't you let me kiss you?" She glared at him. If looks could kill Manik would have been long dead.
"It's so fun seeing you all riled up! Who would want to miss that!" He laughed. Nandini stomped her foot and left the kitchen.
"Lagta hai bhadak gayi." Manik shook his head smiling and followed her.
"Kya hua?" Manik placed his chin on her shoulder, encircling his arms around her.
"You are a Monster. You always do this. Pata hai how much I missed you?" She said crossing her arms across her chest, not pushing him away.
"Acha? Well for the record, I missed you too." He said placing a kiss on her shoulder blade.
"Really?" She grinned making Manik go all awe at her.
"Really. Really!" He said kissing her cheek.
He swiftly turned her around capturing her lips into a deep passionate kiss that made Nandini's toe curl and her knees weak.
"You look so damn hot in my clothes." He said breaking the kiss and planting a soft kiss on her cheek making her scarlet red.
Suddenly both smelled something burning.
"Nandini tum jal rahi ho? Kitni barr bola hai jealous hone ki jaroorat nahi. I promise Soha ne flirt karne ki koshish ki but maine uske dekh tak nahi." He sweared, pinching his throat.
"Haw! Soha ki itni himmat! Kal batati hu usse. Aur main nahi jal rahi tumhara khana jal raha hai." Nandini yelled running towards the kitchen to turn off the stove.
"Yeh sab tumhari wajah se hua hai. You always distract me when you are in my clothes!" He whined like a small kid, exiting the kitchen.
"Manik!!" She shouted throwing a pillow in his direction.
"What?" He saw the pillow coming and jerked down saving himself.
"Ha ha ha!" He smiled, triumphantly but got hit by the second pillow he didn't see coming.
"NANDINI! WAR!" He jumped, running towards her making her scream.
****
A grinned formed on Manik's lips remembering the incident.
Those were the days.
How had he been so blind?
He was leaving his happiness willingly and accepting drowning in the sorrow of his parents death.
He loved them but he had to let go. His life was not over yet.
Life had so much in store for his future.
A future that had Nandini in it.
Manik's thoughts came to a halt when Cabir abruptly pulled the breaks.
"Gadhi kyun rok di Cabir? We are already late. Flight chali jayegi." Manik stated in anger.
"Sirf main nahi, sari gadhiya rukh gayi hai. Traffic jam hai. Lagta hai aage kuch hua hai. Gadhi ab aage nahi jayegi." Cabir said.
"I can't wait."
"Wha-" before Cabir could speak up Manik moved out of the car and started running towards the airport.
He once made the mistake of letting go Nandini, he wasn't going to repeat it.
Atleast not without trying to stop her.
