A plate of vegetables sat in the corner, untouched. It made Luke sad but Addie had only been there for about three days.

Piper and Addison complained about the nurses while Luke sat quietly in the corner. He wasn't in the mood to laugh and make fun of employees here.

All he could think about was how is baby sister would be locked up in this prison for at least a couple of years. How did he not see it? He could've helped. He could've been there.

Luke hated himself right now. She could've avoided coming here. Now she was trapped.

Hearing all the bad things Piper was saying didn't make him feel any better. This place was hell. How could he have been so blind?

They went to the same school, how could he not hear all the rude things they were saying about her? Why didn't he fight off the ruthless boys who mercilessly told her she was worth nothing?

"...then she tried to tell me that I had some sort of disease just to get me to leave the room!" Piper exclaimed, throwing her hands up into the air. Addie laughed and covered her mouth.

"Piper, please." Luke buried his face into his hands, wanting to just run away.

The girls fell silent as their attention went to Luke who was now pinching the bridge of his nose. Addison looked scared and Piper was just down right confused. What had she done this time to push people away?

"I'm going to get going, I suggest you do the same Piper." Luke stood up looking at Piper expectantly.

"You're leaving?" Addison croaked.

"I have to. I'll be back in the morning, bud." He ruffled her hair, feeling even worse than he did before. Addison nodded and stood up, taking Piper with her.

"I guess I should tell the nurses so they can get me a room." Piper shoved her hands in her pockets and Luke felt bad about snapping at her. Luke just felt bad about everything, including himself.

Luke nodded, waving to Addie before exiting the room. Piper walked out the door behind Luke, not bothering to follow him down the hallway.

She didn't say anything until he reached the end and she called out, "It's not your fault, Luke."

He stopped moving and turned around, was he that easy to read? Despite how surprised he was, he offered a small smile her way.

"See you soon, Piper."
