Jeongin sat in his room reading There Will Come Soft Rains by Ray Bradbury.
It was raining outside and he felt safe. The fairy lights he had strung around his small, pastel blue room wrapped him up in a sense of security.
He read over his favorite part with a smile.
"Animals took shape: yellow giraffes, blue lions, pink antelopes, lilac panthers cavorting in crystal
substance. The walls were glass. They looked out upon color and fantasy. Hidden films clocked
through well-oiled sprockets, and the walls lived. The nursery floor was woven to resemble a crisp,
cereal meadow. Over this ran aluminum roaches and iron crickets, and in the hot still air butterflies
of delicate red tissue wavered among the sharp aroma of animalspoors! There was the sound like a
great matted yellow hive of bees within a dark bellows, the lazy bumble of a purring lion. And there
was the patter of okapifeet and the murmur of a fresh jungle rain, like other hoofs, falling upon the
summer-starched grass. Now the walls dissolved into distances of parched grass, mile on mile, and
warm endless sky. The animals drew away into thorn brakes and water holes. It was the children's
hour"
It reminded him of his happy childhood as he reminisced at it.Suddenly, a knock was heard at his door. He was home alone so he got a bit scared as he wasn't expecting anyone.
He sat down his paperback book and unraveled himself from his soft white comforter. He quietly walked downstairs and opened the door to see a drenched Felix with tears running down his face and a takeout box in hand.
"Felix hyung what's wrong?? You're soaked!!! Come in!!! I'll get you clothes stay right here!!!" Jeongin yelped and ran upstairs. He grabbed a towel, sweater, pair of shorts, and some socks for Felix and ran back downstairs to give them to him.
Jeongin went into the kitchen and grabbed some of his chocolate milk and gummies from the cabinet. His and Felix's favorite. He set them on the coffee table and grabbed some soft blankets for them to lay under.
Felix came downstairs and immediately ran to Jeongin, hugging him and sobbing.
"J-Jeongin h-he broke u-up with me!!" Felix said sobbing.
"O-oh. Hyung I'm sorry!!!! Cuddles and snacks?"
"Y-yes please Innie."
Felix lay down and Jeongin lay half on top of him, feeding him gummies as they watched Up.
The two had been best friends for 7 years now. Ever since Jeongin spilled his juice on his pink sweater in 3rd grade, so cuddles were nothing new for the two.
"Hey Lixie Hyung?" Jeongin asked softly.
"Yeah Innie?"
"Can you please tell me what happened?" Jeongin asked. Felix sighed and sat up slowly as to not make Jeongin fall. He sat up and crossed his legs.
"I walked in on him kissing some guy. He said he had been cheating on me and that I was worthless." Felix said, looking down as a tear slipped down his cheek.
"I'm sorry Hyungie," Jeongin said as he pouted.
"It's okay Innie. I'll be fine. School starts soon, maybe someone will be there for me," Felix said with a gentle smile. They lay back down and continued their movie together.
Felix stayed with Jeongin that night and they watched Pixar movies until 3 a.m.
The next morning, Jeongin woke up and started to make Felix breakfast as the other was still asleep. He thought about things they could do, as it was the last weekend before school started. He still had to go back to school shopping and he knew Felix did too, so that's what he planned.
When Felix woke, he went to the kitchen and sat next to Jeongin, thanking him for the meal.
"Hyung, do you want to go shopping? We only have two days until school," Jeongin asked.
"Sure Innie, can I borrow clothes?"
"Yep!!!" Jeongin said with a cute smile that made Felix uwu.
"Aahh!! My Innie is so cute!!!!" Felix cooed as he pinched Jeongin's cheeks making him giggle.
The two stopped their antics and got dressed. Felix wore a simple plain white t-shirt with some ripped blue skinny jeans and some converse while Jeongin wore a pastel purple sweater with white skinny jeans and white converse.
The two walked to the mall as it was only 25 minutes down the road.
*time skip after shopping*
Jeongin walked into his house with 7 bags of new school clothes and no Felix, as he had his own 9 bags to take care of. At the mall trip, the Aussie's fun, bubbly personality shone through a bit even though he was still hit hard by the breakup. Jeongin spent the next day and a half decorating his binders and new bookbag with stickers and pins.
Finally Monday arrived and he jolted out of bed to get ready. He showered and brushed his teeth, taking care of his skin routine. Then he started to get dressed. He wanted to dress cute so he found a pair of baby blue overall shorts and a light mint green sweater two sizes too big.
He slipped on his white sneakers and grabbed an apple, walking to school listening to Twice through his earbuds.
On his walk, he saw someone new. Someone he didn't see last year when he was a freshman. The boy looked...sad and lonely. Jeongin didn't want to bother the male so he kept his head down and kept walking.
Unfortunately for our baby Jeongin, he bumped into the sad-looking boy. Jeongin bowed and apologized frantically.
"I-I'm so sorry!!! I-I didn't mean to b-bump into you!!" He stuttered out in his soft yet panicked voice. Only then did Jeongin get a good look at the boy. He was undeniably very good looking and Jeongin got lost in his features.
"Its fine kid. Just, dont do it again. And stop staring at me for God's sake!!"
Jeongin blushed and hurried towards school with one last apology. 'He probably hates me now!!' He though to himself.
Little did he know, he was oh so wrong.
