Chapter 9: The Big Day

Rose's POV

It was my wedding day. I couldn't believe it. I, Rose Marion Tyler, was about to become-. Wait a second. Did the Doctor have a last name? I never thought of such a thing until now. I guess it didn't really matter the last name of a random bloke you traveled with. What did matter, however, was what was about to happen in one hour. I was about to become the Doctor's Wife.

Chaos lingered in my bedroom. Shouting, mostly from my mother, traveled quickly and for a long period of time. We decided to have the wedding in the TARDIS. It was the only place we could afford to fit so many people.

Mum wanted a more traditional wedding. The Doctor was worried about someone telling the government about the TARDIS. We finally came up with a plan where we would erase the location of the wedding from their memories so they wouldn't remember. Besides, the TARDIS was my home now, and I couldn't think of a better place to get married to the love of my life.

The Doctor had taken us out wedding shopping one day. Since he traveled the planet so frequently, he remembered to put a very large sum of money on his credit card. I didn't go crazy, although I think Mum might've. She insisted on filling the place with loads of sparkling flowers and other decorative items. Just because you have money doesn't mean you should spend it all, I told her.

As I stepped into my dress, reality began to hit me. Before I knew what was happening, tears leaked from the corners of my eyes. Mum came to my side immediately, spluttering questions.

"What's wrong? Rose, are you okay? Are you having any regrets or mood swings? If you really are pregnant-" I cut her off before she could continue. Sniffling, I whispered, "I'm getting married."

The Doctor's POV

I couldn't quite wrap my head around the idea. After 900+ years, I, the Doctor, was about to be married. It wasn't that it took me this long to find a girl; I had met plenty of female humans during my travels. I just hadn't found 'the one'.

I never imagined myself becoming one with another. The main reason being that I didn't want to put anyone else in danger. My 'companions', as I liked to call them, would often risk their lives for me. And even in situations where I knew I probably wasn't going to die, they were brave. So very brave. Rose was also brave, which reminded me once more...

I'm so lucky to have Rose in my life. I'm also lucky to have been created. Without Donna, Rose would be alone. Sure, she'd have her family, but other than that, Rose would have no one. My original self would be forced to leave the parallel universe in peace. I know every part of my full Timelord self, and I know that no matter how much he loved someone, he wasn't willing to sacrifice the world for them. It was a cruel test of love we understood all too well.

Memories and flashbacks echoed in my head as I put on my suit. This was it. The Doctor's wedding. People hustled around me, but I only thought of one thing. Well, two actually. My wedding vows and how beautiful Rose was going to look when she walked down that aisle.

Rose's POV

It was time. I heard the music, soft, yet somehow strong at the same time. My nerves tried to get the best of me, but I wouldn't let them. I was nearly about to fall over in excitement; anyone who knew me knew I rarely wore heels. It wasn't long before the doors swung open gently. The sight before me almost brought more tears to my eyes.

Standing at the altar stood many of my friends. My bridesmaid was Sarah Jane Smith and Mum was my Maid of Honor. I know tradition requires more than that, but to be honest, the Doctor and I wanted it to be like this. There weren't many people who knew us in the first place, not to mention those who could be considered bridesmaids and groomsmen.
