Title of book?
The Devil's Backbone

What inspired your book?
I always wanted to write an action filled story. It started out as a fanfiction crossover between Shooter and the series Justified. But I got carried away with the story and after chapter 2, it was my own imagination and own work.
The military always fascinated me and I wanted to write a strong female character that suffered from anxiety but still could kick ass.

Who inspires you most when it comes to writing?
My husband. He's my soulmate and always encourages me to keep writing. (Because every writer has ups and downs.) I always put pieces of him into my characters so that he's always present in my stories.
More recently, my son inspires me. I want him to be able to read my stories when he's older and be proud on his Mommy. He's only one so I still got time to write many more!

What do you like to write/read the most?
I'm an historical fiction writer in my heart. I love the research and I love to write novels that don't have the solution of modern technologies. (Like a smartphone to call or google something) The characters still need to walk towards someone to be able to talk. Read a book to be able to know something. I always loved history and always will.
For reading, I love Sci-Fi or Fantasy.

How do you feel about winning?
It's a great feeling...Because The Devil's Backbone is a first, rough, draft and winning keeps me motivated to re-write and edit the novel. To mold into perfection and have a final product I can be proud of.
